There are good harems and there are bad harems. Ouran high host club is a example of good harem, SAO is an example of a bad one.

Whenever I watch reverse harems I often think, wow these are some REALLY convenient guys. Then I think to myself, I wonder if girls think the same thing of the chicks in harem animes.

i feel sad for the other girls that the guy don't end up with. and at first i didn't like the guys in harem coz they all pretend that they don't know anything... but..... i like it now xD

What is interesting is that if anime followed real life, most of the time the guy would end up with none of the girls in his harem. After all, in real life, what percentage of people are married to their high school sweet heart vs. someone they met in college or later in life?

At least one anime seemed to acknowledge this. If you watched Gatekeepers and guessed which girl the main character chose, you'd be wrong regardless of your decision. When we see Gatekeepers 21, we find his daughter Ayane is using her mother's maiden name as her family name, and surprise, it doesn't match that of any of the girls in the original series.
