I work ten hours monday - friday doing a lot of walking, lifting airplane parts which can weigh between 15lbs to 150 lbs. and then we may have to work 6 hours on saturday. I am trying to find a way better job that involves working just 40 hours a week instead of 50+ a week. I come home and just want to fall asleep or no do anything and on the weekend I don't want to do anything but sleep. Sometimes I may fall asleep watching anime...terrible But I really have no life now like I did when I was working in the office which is what I'm going to try and get again.

You sound like a really hard working individual you deserve your office job !

Immediately after 9-11, my police department temporarily went to 12-hour shifts to increase manpower coverage. It was brutal, especially since I couldn't afford to quit my second job.

Last year I worked 12 hour shifts Mon-Fri and Saturdays were 8 hour shifts. Did that for 7 months, checks came out great.

12 hour shifts aren't that bad since you get 3 days off instead of 2.

Most offices that allow flexible schedules (which a lot do when you get into salary pay) will sometimes let you work up to 12 hours a day to have a three day vacation. Usually, not in a row (since Monday and Friday are big decision making days.)

12 Hours - Monday
Off - Tuesday
12 Hours - Wednesday
12 Hours - Thursday
4 Hours - Friday (Work from home.)
Off - Saturday
Off - Sunday

Long ago, there was about a 1.5 to 2 month stint that I was working two full time jobs, 16 hours a day - 5 days a week. Unfortunately, both jobs also required that I take an hour lunch break, and there was an hour between jobs. Although, sometimes the morning job went into a short amount of overtime, so there wasn't always an hour between. I was expected at work at 4 am and got off at 10pm, if the evening job didn't go over. That was pretty brutal. I would basically come home and crash.

Hell no to that. Most I've worked is 10 hours and my hands become sore as hell. I couldn't imagine working 12.

Wow, i dont think i could work 12 hour shifts. I have only done that once, it was like 5 or 6 years ago, when i used to work at Best Buy. Had to work like 12 hours on black Friday, and it was horrible. I dont mind the normal Monday to Friday shifts.

In a hospital environment, 10-12 hours is the norm. It's physically and mentally taxing, but those extra days off are nice.

Every now and then I work 12 hour shifts. By the end of the day, my hands are sore and my feet are killing me. Only twice I've worked 18 hour shifts, I would come in at 5pm and go home at 11am. Only to sleep for a few hours before going back to work. Hopefully I never have to work for that long again.

I occasionally work a 12-hour shift if I'm asked to stay late. It's not worth the extra money based on the stress level they bring. I don't know why someone would work hours like that unless they are in debt or something.
