I mainly work 8 hour shifts but I do do overtime as well (sometimes). I've never did 12 hours yet, but I can only imagine! After 10 hours I was EXHAUSTED!

Depends on the job. My current one wouldn't be difficult, and even working fast food for 12 hours wasn't too bad. It's the double shifts (16 hours) that really suck wherever you work.

I do 12-3 hours and i get 1 hour lunch break which I could take any time and for how ever long i want to since i work on my own and report to the Financial Director at the end of the week. .

I've done 12 hour shifts for the last ~20-25 years or so.
But it's essentially office-based (computer/networking) and it's night shift as well. (7-PM to 7AM Wed,Thur,Fri,Sat nights)
But it's done as a 4-day then 3-day workweek. (48 hours one week, 36 hours the next alternating.Every other week I get Sat night off)
Working the 4 day, that following "weekend" day is a waste because of trying to recover.
While it's not grueling work, it sure cuts off socializing (see the days...)
and because I still "try" to shift to a daytime cycle on the weekends...it's not fun.

I think it depends on what day of the week it is...sometimes it's 10 hour days, sometimes it's 12 hour days, sometimes it's 18 hour days, and about twice a year or so, a full 24 hour shift.

But I am also military, so I am sure other military folk can attest to this. You can have 3, 3 day weekends in a row, and then not have a day off for weeks on end. Much worse when deployed.

Did a lot of 12+ hour shifts working in games - and saw a ton of people making stupid mistakes (including myself), tempers flaring for silly things, and practically everyone got sick because of it.

I have.
I feel your pain man.

It really sucks, that's why I quit my job. I'm 19 so its not like I have many bills to pay since I live with my parents, but boy was it rough when I did work that long. I mean working restless hours day and night. It's rough. It's amazing to see people doing it in crappy jobs. To survive I guess. What a cruel world sometimes

Done a couple of doubles myself. I worked a 15 hour shift with virtually no break once.

Wasn't nice.

12 hour shifts during holiday season, 21 during black friday, 9 hours every other day. In the beginning I thought I would be fine since I'm pretty fit and go to the gym twice a week but crap i was wrong. Standing throughout my whole shift in dress shoes would hurt my feet and legs so bad it would strain my back. I would also have to carry huge things time to time when it's crowded. But after a month, it was cake but Black Friday took the life out of me. Toward the last 6 hours of that day, it felt like my limbs were just large pieces of extra meat swinging around. Every time I drank something it would sting so bad and had no taste because my tongue was numb. Thank god Black Friday was once a year.
