I understand completely.

I've had this problem throughout my entire life, until I started using Metamucil.

I would be on the toilet nearly 2/3 of the day, before I began including fiber in my diet.

I recommend you do, too.

Okay now so what do you guys do to get through the 12 hour shifts do you rely on caffeine, chocolate etc?

I'd always try to avoid looking at the clock, and simply try to keep myself busy. That's really it. Do you do anything particular to help? Oh and food/drinks. I'd have mints when available or coffee.

I've been known to work with a piece of a 100% cacao bar in my mouth. All the time.

Shut up about 12 hour shifts. Yeah, they are long. They can be draining for sure. If you are doing something like 3 or 4 day workweeks, there is no reason to complain. If you are an hourly wage employee, then you have nothing to complain about.

During my navy days in the shipyard, we would have 24-hour duty every 3 days and then work 12-16 hours every day but Sunday. If your duty day landed on Sunday, life was terrible. 6:30 in the morning until 7 or 8 at night when we didn't have duty. You want mental and physical anguish, try that.

OR

My last job was as a commissioning agent. My boss' philosophy was "If the customer is here, we're here." except the customer had 3 or 4 reps who rotated and my boss wanted us all there all the time. I traveled the country putting in 12-14 hour days on construction sites, and then was dragged to "business dinners" at cheap places like Applebees so we could smooze the customer some more. Oh yeah, I was salary, so I got paid nothing to do it. I traveled to some (what would have been) cool places, but I saw nothing but job sites and hotels.

I WISH I could have just 12 hour shifts. What's that old saying? It's something like, "Don't complain about your leaking roof until you meet the man who has none." something like that.

plus i hate the taste of coffee

Pretty sure your taste buds are broke, you might wanna get that checked out just saying.

Anyway I work about 9-10 hours. A couple of jobs I did in the past made me work up to 11. I don't mind too much.

So my taste buds are broke because I dislike coffee lol you are some character.

Coffee is one of the Five Divine Nectars of the Gods. If you don't like it, you've either 1) never had good coffee (Starbucks is not good coffee, try some fresh Hawaiian Kona or good European style espresso) 2) Your tastebuds really are broken or 3) You're in league with the devil -- and I'm pretty sure he drinks coffee too.

I've worked 12s before. It really depends on the type of work that you're doing. Mentally taxing and repetitive work like computer work destroys my mental stability. I've done 12+ doing physical jobs too. It really for me came down to keeping from burning out.

now I pull a week or two weeks continuous doing 8-14 hour weeks doing network stuffs.

I'm lucky enough that I have enough time in service that I can get away with 8 hour work days. Then again I'm salary and work on the weekend sometimes so it all balances out.

I hate mailnly because I work in fast food. Humans get ugly and rude over some food. Technically, ten minutes is still fast that cooking dinner at home. So, fuck off lady who dicided to order 3 number 13s and 2 number two, 1 number, 1 number 10 with bacon and cheese, and 1 Honey BBQ Chicken strip sandwich.

Fast food is a lot of work that people don't even understand. Especially, if the business is corporately owned.
