It's been less than a year story-wise from what I've learned, so they haven't aged much within the story. Think simpsons, they include modern elements like phones and other technologies but the timeframe is within the same year, regardless of previous stories where tech has been replaced.

Funnily it doesn't bother me as much as it originally did when reading manga 1st time. Used to bug me in simpsons but it's something that sort of goes to the back of the mind.

Currently on the movie 6, seriously awesome. Very sao.

I've seen every episode, movie, magic file, and OVA to date. I LOVE this anime and really really wish Crunchyroll would simulcast it. It can be a little daunting that the main plot moves pretty slow but the biggest draw is how they come up with these crazy ways to logically kill someone and strino together clues to solve it!

If you want to get into this, please watch the subtitled version. The English version "case closed" is pretty terrible comparatively.

I've watched all episodes around 2 times. Fillers in Conan are hit and miss, with a lot of miss as the series goes on. I own all the dvd releases and have made sure to watch all the subs Funi had been putting up for the series recently in hope more good subs will come. (cause good look finding non-stretched episodes)

# of episodes so far: 700 (watched 694)
# of movies so far: 17 (watched all except 17)
# of TV specials: 14 (probably watched all too)
# of OVAs so far: 27 (I remember marathoning these)

I mean, this anime has the worst possible pacing for plot development
but y'all can't deny the fact that it's a good and addictive show.

Am I alone on this?

I would think so! Well done. I have seen maybe 200 episodes 2 movies and an OVA. I'm convinced Shinichi will remain a child for the rest of his life...
