Hmm. Not obliterated, but it did get locked. Ah, well. So it goes.

*looks up, thinks*

Why Reborn, I wonder? That's a much longer series than many of the others that have been suggested.

Shaman King. Manga is amazing, but the anime barely followed all the good parts. Even changing and omitting some amazing scenes. Would love to see it made again more faithful to the manga.

Berserk needs a third chance; the anime is over 15 years old now and hasn't aged well, and while the movies were occasionally good they omitted a lot and were far from perfect (and most of the third one was downright terrible).

I just really want something I can buy that'll live up to the manga.

I believe the contrary, that Berserk has aged very well.
But I would be here for a reboot. Watching this glorious anime
in top quality animation would be a dream come true!

I'm living the delusion that the movies don't exist.

Maybe I should revisit it; it's been a couple years.

(I, er, think the FMA VS. Brotherhood topic was obliterated. Whoops?)

You scared me there for a minute.

I was given the option to revive the thread but under a different title and with a different motive...something like "Why following the manga isn't always a good idea", and I would simply use my discourse on FMA to be my example (an extensive one). Maybe I'll get around to that if I feel like interesting discussion could become of it.

Gantz and Kenichi would be nice.

Not Air Gear and Tenjou Tenge though. I will say it right now, Oh Great has good ideas and draws very well, but he is the friggin sloppiest person in the world when it comes to compiling those ideas. I do not think I have seen a manga go on so many tangents all at once before :/.

Negima would be awesome, especially the school festival arc and the magical world arc, those were where the manga really shined. Unfortunately I dont think Akamatsu would have him settle for any girl in any universe. I seriously wouldn't mind whoever he ended up with as long as it was one of the girls who liked him (Yue, Nodoka, Ku fei, etc) My personal favorite was Yue.

Dgrayman, I love this manga and I loved the anime, I really would like to see it in its entirety.

The Law of Ueki. In fact it could just use a remaster. A manga series that was totally let by its anime in my opinion is Reborn!

There's not anything necessarily wrong with straying from the source material. I greatly prefer how both FMA and Soul Eater turned out in their anime adaptions, and on top of that diverging from the manga prevented them from becoming over-long shonen bore-fests with tons of filler. In the case of FMA, when Brotherhood came out, it was TOO loyal to the original comics and suffered as a result. (Comics and television do not automatically transfer content well in adaptions. They are different mediums after all). I feel that if second series are attempted like what happened with brotherhood, the result will be the same. To try and please the fans that complained the series diverged from the manga, the studio will go overboard and make it exactly like the comics. If that is the case, what's the point in watching the series? If it's exactly like the manga, why not just read the manga? Another issue arises when you consider the content that was already covered by the first series. The beginning of brotherhood is kind of a mess, as the early segments of the story that were already part of the first show were hastily skimmed through, because Studio Bones didn't want to just recreate the first series over again.

I've been watching One Piece and came to the conclusion that anything Toei Animation touches they ruin much like Studio Perriot.... And anime they do needs to go to Gainax, Madhouse, Bones, Shaft or any good studio...
