Why is make-up viewed so negatively?

I don't really care if people wear make up or get tattoos. It depends how much you put on, though. If you put so much make up on your face that you kind of look like a clown, then people will assume you are fake. I also hate people who are OBSESSED about makeup. They act as if they are going to die if they can't have make up for one day. Um, that means you have no life and you probably need help. I know one girl who used to be in my history class who would wear make up every fifteen minutes because she thought it "kept fading". It was so difficult to work with her and she was really annoying, especially when she kept spraying her perfume all over the place.

So you can wear make up or whatever, just wear it at a moderate level and don't worship it. Make up enhances beauty, yes, but I think natural beauty is so much better because it's pure and original.

Well it's extremely rare that I see a woman without any make-up on, so I really have no idea what you are talking about. I personally prefer a more natural look, but women who use lots of make-up are still often considered attractive.

Is it just women that get uppity about make-up on other women? That's likely a competitive thing, and probably has nothing to do with something so specific as make-up choices.

Why is it viewed so negatively? It shouldn't be. Because you wear make-up doesn't make you fake or superfical. It's the same for tattoos. Why do people get tattoos? As most people see it, our body is a blank canvas and you can create what you want with it. I mean you like wearing clothes that make you feel cool or pretty right? then what's the difference in wearing make-up? I wear it because I feel pretty (Also I wear it because I'm actress) and I feel good about myself/ I' happy with the way I look without it and I can live going out without it too. Wearing make up is like making your face art is as the same for wearing clothes and having tattoos.

-So what are you're thoughts?

I looked to see if it's a dupicate but couldn't find it. So if it is please lock it, thank you!~

Make-up is okay, and sometimes needed to look decent.

It's quite unbecoming to look greasy or haggard in front of your clients after all.

As long as it is not overdone, and as long as you're using the correct make up shades for your skin tone, then that is acceptable.

More importantly though, take care of your skin and eat healthy. Don't ever forget to wash your makeup off before going to bed (especially in your 20s) You won't regret it by the time you've turned 30. :)

I recommend combining Vitamin C and E rich food for glowing skin. If you like to look naturally peachy or blushing, I recommend red fruits and vegetables ;)

This basicaly.

I prefer a more natural look, but I freely admit that a little bit of somthing can bring out features nicely.

But when people are putting it on like you'd put plaster on a wall, then no, that is not attractive.

Tattoos again, the right design can look really good on the right person, but so many people don't think about how that design will look in twenty years time when you're getting wrinkles. Personaly I think the back and upper arms are the best location. I'm not one for tattoos on hands or the face.

Makeup doesnt benefit the skin....its expensive if you want the good quality makeup (the cheap kind always breaks or my skin ) ..... Makes you look like someone you're not. I use to wear a lot of make up but for the wrong reasons i think most girls do too. I m not a big fan if it any more i think girls would be more happy if they just abrupt who they are and what they really look like.it's fine to wear make up just don't wear a freaking crap load of it......

The point of makeup is to enhance beauty not cover up ugliness. Used correctly in small quantities, it is not necessarily bad, but women painted up like clowns look ghastly, and makeup smearing all over everything is a major annoyance.

What is absolutely farcical is men on TV like news anchors using the old pancake makeup from NTSC television days. That crap shows up in high definition, and just looks stupid.

Frankly, I'm pretty sure it has a lot to do with egocentrism. Choosing to wear or not to wear make up should be entirely up to the individual, and what makes them feel good should be the most important thing; however, a lot of people seem to think that their opinions and sense of entitlement trump that, and try to shame others into fitting their ideal.

ETA: Also, everyone saying it's just because of girls being jealous, I'm sure that's part of it, but don't ignore the thousands of guys who constantly say "I like girls to be natural!" as if people only wear makeup to attract their attention.

I don't really care weather people use it or not since its easy (for me) to see past all the layers of powder and cream people use to hide dark circles, scars, blemishes, etc, and see them for there natural self.

I view it as a negative because the only reason, for the most part why women put on make up, is to feel more "beautiful". As an art form, I'm okay with make-up, but as a beauty enhancer, I disapproved. That a problematic system if you ask me. Women are beautiful as is, but because women are born into a world where their bodies are scrutinized every single second, it's not surprising as to why girls wear it. I personally hate woman with make up, or at least excessive/dark make up. I'm fine with the "natural look" type of make up, but anymore than the natural look, is just repulsive. It's sad when you think about it really, how woman are born into a world where they are indoctrinated into thinking they need to constantly improve their looks with man-made products when in reality, as long as one lives healthy, you'll look and feel great. But thanks to mainstream media and the entertainment industry, its inevitable that woman will feel the need to put on make-up to make them feel more beautiful. But hey, in this capitalistic world, making money off innocent girls is just "another day" in the business world. Who cares if we destroy and distort women's perception of themselves said the greedy bastards running thing.

It just looks bad sometimes. But sometimes it looks really nice. Only children who are struggling to have a contrarian mindset say stupid things "hurrr i only lyk natrual womanz." No one actually believes that. Because if they were naturalness, they'd be opposed to clothes, and the computer they're sitting in front of, that too.

Would you please stop this "woman are all always beautiful the way they are" nonsense? You know that's not true. Stop lying to yourself, and to everyone who reads you posts. Their are some ugly woman in the world who feel that make up would make them look prettier. You disapprove with a person attempting to make themselves look better? Really?

I wear makeup because I want to. I want tattoos because I want tattoos. If anybody has a problem with it, it's in your hands whether you give a shit or not. I don't care if you think I'm fake because I like the way BB cream makes my face look flawless. It even provides sun protection!
