Make up is viewed negatively because some girls freak out if they have to go a day with out make up, as if they don't look good without it. Some girls only use a little make up, sometimes it's so obvious that they are wearing make up it's like... "why did you take the time before school this morning to put on that much make up?"

That said, I dislike wearing make up. Oh I'll put it on for special occasions because my mom likes me to and it looks good for pictures, and even then I try to only wear the minimum, concealer, slight eyeliner, eye shadow and mascara, lightly. Very lightly, usually not very noticeable. I don't cake it on because I like being as natural as possible.

I guess people are all like "oh you're beautiful without it", I guess people have their reasons like too young ex. kids in pageants and wearing it incorrectly or too much. To me the purpose of make-up is to enhance your natural beauty not everyone looks beautiful and those people might want to look beautiful, even if they don't its worth it if they feel like they are right? I don't know peoples reasons but I dont see it negatively, only in certain situations.

^Good point.

To me, a girl who has too much make-up on her face may lack confidence in her ''natural'' look, may be seeking attention or is simply overdoing it. It's not natural to have blue stuff all around your eyes, stuff like that.
Like, for instance, young teenage girls(16 & younger) shouldn't be wearing make-up at school, or nowhere at all actually. 17~18, I guess you're becoming somewhat of an adult, and you should be wearing that on occasions if you want to. It's up to you.
After that, do whatever you like. I just prefer ''natural'' look than fake, or highly enhanced. None of that sparkly stuff on your face

People are not bothered by make-up if it is not noticed easily. As far as my knowledge goes most girls wear makeup so I don't think it is viewed negatively. Almost anything in moderation is good/okay but when it becomes in excess, is where it generally becomes negative. Some view it age wise as in not being needed but I personally don't care as long as it is not being pushed on them in some way. If it makes you feel good I don't care if you look like a clown but expect me to laugh (cuz clowns make people laugh). I personally dont get the appeal of tats but if it is done in good taste and not obnoxious then they usually look fine.

I don't view makeup negatively at all, its the people who go overboard with it. There are some girls who treat makeup like its necessary for survival. I never understand those people. I mean, if you're in a hurry, whats wrong with spending one day without makeup? Then of course there are those who wear very thick makeup. There was this lady in a bookstore that scared the crap out of me! She almost looked like a clown. That's how I feel anyway. :/

Make up has been used for what 5000 years? You would think people would be use to it by now

not that i find anything wrong with make up (as long as its not overdone and makes ppl look like they are fake like in those pageants ) but comparing it to tattoos is kinda dumb most people dont get tattoos because it will make them feel pretty or cool they get them to represent something aobut themselves or something they've been through

A real beauty is without a make up because make up is just covering some dark side.

its a confidence booster.

I wear it for the same reason I change my clothes and hair style....cause you get sick of the way you look everyday.

For me it has nothing to do with attracting men. I dont give a flying f*** what others think. All that matters is what I think.

I think anyone has the right to wear makeup! Some of us aren't born with every feature picture perfect. Makeup lets a girl add that feature maybe lacking. Or better yet. Enhance a special feature already beautiful even better. I know many girls who are beautiful with and without it. As for Tattoos. Big turn off for me. I understand a body is a canvas. But the working world is not a place for this. In fact Tattoos are still Taboo in many parts of the world. In America it still has the appearance of that Hill Billy look people shy away from. For me, and maybe just for me. It is a huge turn off. I don't find that attractive in a girl at all. You can have a freedom. But too much of a good thing can go all wrong too. I hold to the highest respect a clean girl. Though hard to find these days. A girl like I have met many times. Like a model she has to be. But someone who knows that freedoms have limitations. If they didn't. The whole world would be a place of self disctruction.

People who have a problem with make-up are, in a word, stupid! They need to get off whatever high horse they rode in on, and face the fact that this is an aesthetic world where appearances are the first impression. It's why people don't where street clothes to an interview, why the corporate world is clad in coats ant ties, why women spend time finding which lipstick suits them best. That's the way things are and they're not going to change, so stop complaining and suit up!

Yes like 4 o'clock shadow. I'd Rather NOT be the incredible bearded lady thank you... Next you'll tell me it's wrong to get my facial hair lasered off or dye my head hair a colour I like.

It's viewed negatively because people always have to complain about everything (face it, humans are professional complainers).
