Since many forums have this thread and I didn't see one here, I thought I'd make one. I'll try to post the weekly rankings for WSJ and of course people can talk about WSJ series and any news they find interesting.

For those who are new to the whole ToC thing, I will put this for reference:
CP= Color Page
ToC= Table of Content
Series with a lead color page or a center color page are not ranked. New series don't get ranked until the 8th chapter is published. The rankings posted in each issue are the results collected from 7 issues back. So the chapters ranked in issue #31 are the chapters that were published in issue #24. For example, the One Piece chapter that's ranked is chapter 708 which was published in issue #24.

I'll start with this week's WSJ

Weekly Shonen Jump issue #31 ToC:
Gintama (Cover, Lead CP)
1- One Piece
2- Assassination Classroom
3- Naruto
4- PSI Kusuo Saiki

10- Soul Catcher(S) (First Ranking)

Haha true. All 4 volumes have sold more than 500,000 copies. I believe volume 1 has surpassed the 1 million mark! That's on Naruto and HxH level! Just imagine how much the manga will sell once it gets an anime adaptation.

But it's too bad Assassination Classroom has no chance of coming to America. After all that's happened back in 2012, this manga would be the aim of all Political Bashing on messed up teenagers ;_;
I'm satisfied with where everything is lol. Too bad about Sket Dance. It's ranking must be why it's ending now.

Maybe as a consolation, Gintama will do one more hopefully approved cross over with Sket dance. I can imagine Gintoki being a total dick, acting all triumphant while Bossun is crying because his series got cancelled. For some reason later, Bossun replaces Gintoki as the main character and it will be the mis adventures of Sket dance in amanto filled EDO!

PSI Kusuo Saiki might be getting an anime adaptation. I'm saying might because we're not sure if it's going to be an anime, but the series is going to get some kind of adaptation. This is honestly a great news, as I like the series, even though only 1 volume has been translated. Still, it's too soon for it to get an anime. It's one of the popular relatively new WSJ series, but getting an anime adaptation after a little over a year since it started is way too soon.

The PSI Kusuo Saiki adaptation will be a Flash Anime (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2013-07-03/saiki-kusuo-no-psi-nan-manga-adaptation-is-a-flash-anime)
Update: This will be released through the new Jump Live mobile app that Shueisha will launch in August. I have to admit, I'm disappointed that it won't air on TV. Then again, I mentioned that it's too soon for it to have an anime series, so this might be a mini series. (Thanks to revolution_d1 for letting us know)

I really should check Shokugeki no Souma, I read it was a cooking manga so I didn't bother but looks like I was wrong not to.

I also wanna read PSI Kusuo Saiki but It seems to be stuck on 8 chapters everywhere I go.

Soma is a very good series. I know the premise of it being a cooking manga may turn many people away, but it actually grabbed my interest once I gave it a shot and now I like it.

Saiki is a text heavy manga with a lot of Japanese word play, puns and culture references that are hard to translate. Thus, the translations are slow. At least someone is doing a great job in translating it though.

Souma is awesome, it's pure food porn. It's fan service heavy, but it's indiscriminate when it comes to age or gender and is used for comedy half of the time. If you're familiar with Yakitate Ja-Pan, this series has over the top reactions to the cooking too. It's constanty ranked in the top 5 since it's serilization began six months ago.

You seem to appreciate good comedy (^Gintoki avatar), so I highly recommend it. It's interesting, enjoyable and very funny, and apparently the volumes are selling at mach 20 in Japan!!

You've watched Bakuman? I've read some of the manga, but I haven't been able to find anywhere online to watch it or anywhere to buy more than the first few episodes for an overpriced price, so do you know how I can find it?

It's 12 last week and 13 this week. It's still doing fine in the volume sales so it should be safe. I'll be honest I never liked Bleach. I gave it a shot and read 200 chapters, but I guess it's not my cup of tea. From what I know, a lot of people hated the previous arc. It appears that the Japanese people are unforgiving as I hear a lot of Bleach fans love the current arc.

I remember reading somewhere that the company that was licensing Bakuman in the US had to let it go after just the first 7 episodes. I hope you didn't buy those overpriced dvds cause if you did.... Anyways I'll pm you the sites where you can watch the whole series subbed. Frankly, it's my favorite slice of life anime and it fully adapts the manga til the end.

Yeah I love the current Bleach arc, it's the best. It was epic awesomeness a few months ago but the last 7-8 chapters have been pretty boring. You can read them in 2 minutes, I don't know how the author gets away with it. Besides a certain revelation, it's been useless chit-chat and head-scratching character intros for 2 months now. I think it should pick up in a few chapters though given the direction it's taking.

This arc is only better because NOTHING can be worse than Fullbring, which was basically manga's equivalent of filler. Pointless in every single way. Also, Fake Karakura Town was handled like shit and ended in a completely ridiculous way. Guess that is what happens when you make a character like Aizen who is pretty much indestructible.... The Quincy Arc has been well ahead of that garbage. But only when Ichigo and Squad Zero aren't around... The stuff with the Qunicies is ok, and Masaki's flashback was also great (till it was unceremoniously ended...) Still nothing too special about it, though. At least to me. Which is why I can see it so far down low.

Also, someone said the the volume sales are doing ok? Not really in that either. Each year for the past 3 or 4 years it has dropped over 1 MILLION total units sold a year. That is dreadful, and probably why the series is ending after this arc.

Better than where Naruto is right now, though. The crap going on in there is beyond awful. Don't know how it stays so damn high...
