I can't believe that even in its closing chapters, that Beelzebub is still so low on the rankings. Oh well, I enjoyed reading the manga and I hope the author makes another manga. If there's one thing I applaud about him. Is that he made a very interesting story. Way better then the copy paste harem comedies, or boy at school has powers and has to hide them. At least Oga was a boy at a delinquent school with powers, that had to take care of a demon baby that cries electricity.

Also, I find it strange that Kochikame is still running. Usual mangas would have been canned by the rankings I see Kochikame getting. I'm guessing its because Kochikame has been running for so long that SJ wouldn't want to let it go.

Lastly, I'm not surprised Hachi got canned this week. It wasn't doing so hot on the rankings. I remember reading it, but I just didn't like it all that much. It had a nice premise, but I didn't like the protagonist's personality. I liked his design, but not his personality.

I look forward to hearing about the 4 new manga coming. I'm looking forward to Stealth Symphony, and Illegal Rare. Stealth Symphony is being made by the same guy who made Durarara, so I'll give it a chance. Don't know much about Illegal Rare, but its design gives me that 90's feel and its a mystery.

Kochikame in WSJ is like Detective Conan is Shonen Sunday, or Hajime no Ippo in Shonen Magazine. They proved themselves a long time ago, and they still sell well even after all those years they've been running. Those series I think are an exception to the cancellation system. They won't end until the authors decide to end them.

Hope there's a gem hidden in one of the new serializations. I might check Illegal Rare later since it's from Nurarihyon's author (loved that one) and maybe the others if I hear good things early.

Bleach 10th? ~ Hm, not bad. Hoping it gets in the top 5 soon!
Gives it a better chance of animating the final arc.

well i guess that is common for axed mangas. I enjoyed Beelzebub for the most part, and really liked its comedy. Geez though... what does it take to please this audience lol.

did you guys know the Sorachi (Gintama mangaka) is doing the binding for Jump every week this year, an honor never given to anyone else

Yup it's for Gintama's 10th anniversary. Also, Gintama wasn't the only series to get a full year worth of WSJ binding. One Piece had one. I forgot which year though. It was a big picture of the Straw Hats doing things in the four yearly seasons. I think Naruto also had one, but I'm not sure about that.

I think we should've used the word spine instead What we meant is the spine of the book. All of the WSJ issue's spines for 2014 are going to be for Gintama.

So he's going to draw a small Gintoki or something and it'll appear on the spine of every issue of WSJ in 2014?

Now that it's confirmed that Beelzebub will end, I would like to give my opinion on it. First off, I loved the series overall. However, I can't help, but to feel sad to see it come to an end while it was at its low point. I loved Beelzebub for its comedy, and its good little action thrown in there. What made me like it in the first place is the comedy. To see Tamura try to take the serious approach during the Akumano Academy arc, was just painful. I knew immediately that was not his forte. I was very happy to see him conclude that arc quickly and get back to the series' roots, its comedy. Then he took the serious approach once again, during the end, which really made me question, if Tamura himself wanted to take this approach or was the editorial team of WSJ that wanted him to do this. Maybe, they forced him to step away from comedy, just because we have new comedy series that became more popular than Beelzebub (Assassination Classroom, Saiki). Either way, we will never know for sure. Now, I'm just hoping that the spinoff will focus more on the comedy aspect of the series.

I honestly have no idea. When One Piece had all of the spines in 2008, you got 4 different big pictures of the Straw Hats doing things in the four yearly seasons when you line up all the issues. So it could also be one big picture for Gintama when you line up all the issues.

Bleach hasn't been well received by the Japanese for a while, or so it seems lol.
It still sells pretty well though.

Then again, someone said Hunter x Hunter had bad ToC placement in Jump as well, while it was not in hiatus, but that series sold volumes like crazy.

I remember a time when Jump series dominated in the anime industry like kings. At one point in 2011, you had One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Hunter x Hunter, Beelzebub, Toriko, Gintama, SKET Dance, Nurarihyon no mago, Bakuman, Dragon Ball Kai and even Jump SQ's Blue Exorcist all airing more or less at the same time. 2012 didn't have DB Kai or Nura but added Kuroko's Basketball, Medaka Box, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, To Love Ru and SQ's New Prince of Tennis and Bimbougami ga.

Now 2013 was just sad. By the time April comes, we'll have only One Piece, Naruto, JoJo and Haikyuu (Nisekoi also if confirmed two cour). We need more Jump series airing like the good old days.

So I was bored and decided to do prediction on what the next series to get an anime could be, and what series could return. This prediction is baseless though, I did it just for fun.

Prediction:

Fall 14:
Saiki Kusuo no Sainan

Winter 15
Assassination Classroom

Spring 15:
Gintama (after 2 years they should have enough material)
Kuroko's Basketball 3 (had a 1 year hiatus between the 1st and 2nd anime, might do the same again)
Toriko 2

Fall 15:
Shokugeki no Sōma

Spring 16:
Bleach: Final Arc
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part IV: Diamond Is Unbreakable
World Trigger

Fall 28:
One Piece GT (Starts immediately after One Piece ends)
