So now that Berserk Golden Arc III has been released on Blu-ray in Japan, I'm curious to know what the difference is between the two.

From what I've read, there seems to be very little other than the R18 showing a few seconds below the waist and not having a video at the end? Whereas the R15 version censors a few seconds and includes a music video of some sort.

I'm trying to get the whole picture, because from the sound of things the R15 is the better version whereas the R18 version is shorter (due to not having the video at the end apparently).

Anyone share their knowledge of this stuff and help solidify it?

That's what i have heard as well. Well i don't want Berserk movie for the few seconds of pubes, so i guess R15 works just fine.

If it ends where I think it ends I would honestly lean towards the R15 version

The Eclipse is some of the most gruesome brutal stuff I have seen in a Manga.

animated and uncensored it's going to be nightmare fuel.

I assumed the one I saw was the R15 version since a LOT of what happened to Casca was entirely omitted or generally toned down, but if the only difference is shading then the 1996 anime is definitely more graphic than either movie.

That's... kind of saddening, honestly.

I don't mean to sound like a sick-minded bastard, but I really liked how truly horrific the Eclipse chapters are.

But I didn't think it was that good of a movie anyway, so it doesn't make much of a difference.

I must've seen the R18 version then, because for a good 10 mins I was ready to stick my fist into my monitor and rip Griffon's head off...

I honestly think I was more pissed then Guts, I still have an arm though...and an eye...

I'm pretty sure I saw the whole rape scene, but I'd seen (and read) all of that before. Basically I knew everything that was going to happen during the Eclipse, and was just surprised when a fair amount of it never materialized in the movie. I was genuinely looking forward to pure nightmare material, to be honest. But it lacked luster somehow by comparison. I'm just really fond of how truly fucked up Berserk can be; seeing it toned down was pretty disheartening in a way.

Anyway, now that I've convinced everyone I'm psychologically deranged, I'll go find something else to do.

Oh I knew what was going to happen too, but I'm actually quite curious now regarding what version I actually saw.

Just finished watching the R18 version. I can see where a bit of censoring could have been in order (especially given Japan's strict censorship laws on showing below the waist).

I have only personally watched the R18 version. I like the nakedness of the story-telling.

But why wouldn't they have the last part after the credits in the R15 version?

I have made a Trailer for Golden Age Arc (The trilogy).
It's just my own personal fan creation but i hope u like it :P
