I recently saw a thread that mentioned Anohana is available in Canada, as well as other countries. And - while this thread is quite old, there were no threads or posts that I noticed mentioning it is unavailable anymore. I assume that Crunchyroll's license to stream it in Canada has expired, or whatever the legalities with it are.

But I'm wondering if it is still viewable from the U.S?

And then, on a somewhat related note, I have to question the legalities of using a VPN, or a proxy to bypass the region locks on Crunchyroll. If Anohana is available in America, is it allowed to use a VPN to get around the region lock? I didn't note any regulations around region locks in the T.O.S, though I admit I may have missed them, I doubt it.

And, I apologize if this is the wrong section, I'm quite new to the Crunchyroll forums, and the layout/moderation seems different from forums I typically use.

Hola!

Are you able to see any videos on this page?
http://www.crunchyroll.com/anohana-the-flower-we-saw-that-day

Anohana is still available for users in the US and Canada.

No, I am unable to. I hear it's supposed to be quite the tear jerker, so I've been avidly refreshing the page in hopes it will magically fix itself. To my knowledge, I do not have any VPNs/Proxies enabled that could be interfering with the region, either. I should be right here in Canada, according to Crunchyroll.

I am showing that you logged in from Austin, TX, United States.

Can you power off/on your router and see if it works now?

Austin, TX, United States? Whaaa?

Well, as much as that is odd, Anohana is supposedly available from the U.S as well, and I still am unable to view any of the videos. Returning my I.P address to Canada would hardly solve the problem if I should be able to view it from Austin, TX, anyway. Would it not?

EDIT: I seem to have forgotten to mention that I still reset my router regardless, I just find it peculiar that going from one place that should have zero problems to another that should have equally null problems would solve the problem.

EDIT: That above edit insinuates that resetting my router solved the problem. I am still unable to view Anohana. I'm also apparently terrible at communicating.

Thank you for the screenshot.

I've tested the videos and they are showing up fine for me.

I will be forwarding your post to our engineers to look into the issue and let you know as soon as I hear back from them.

Apologies and thank you for your patience.

I'm using Google chrome.

EDIT:

I just tried using Internet Explorer and it seemed to have fixed the problem, actually. That'd be the last thing I expect. Though, IE happens to run incredibly slow on my computer, is there any fix to get it to work on Chrome, or should I just deal with the slowness of IE?

So it's working in IE now, but still not in Chrome?

Indeed. it's rather peculiar. I can only assume I left a proxy on when I logged in, and disabled it sometime afterwards. But even then, I would be placed in the United states, where I should be able to see it anyway, and I could not. Peculiar behaviour, I'd say.

And, while I will happily suck up using IE to watch Anohana, there are a couple of other problems that arise because of this;

1. If I'm missing Anohana because of my browser preferences, what other anime could I potentially be missing?
2. If I'm experiencing this problem, how many other people are unknowingly experiencing it?

If you had a proxy enabled, your session could remain as the original country detected. If that is the case, logging out and logging back in (with your proxy disabled) should hopefully fix the issue. Also make sure that your language preference at the bottom of the page is English (US) not UK.

1. Most of our shows have a variety of region specific availabilities -- the US is our primary audience, so the most content is available here.
2. It's rather rare that users are using proxies that place them outside of the US. There are certainly reasons to have this but the typical user is not affected.

Can you try what I recommended above and see if it resolves the issue?

Changing the language preference fixed the issue. Though that seems incredibly inefficient. What language you prefer to speak shouldn't determine what anime you can and can not watch...

But thanks anyway, really happy that the problem was resolved.
