Agree with Pulley's Kotoura-San comparison. I haven't seen Madoka but instantly thought of Kotoura watching the girl's day to day life & her history. Now I have to watch everything else I haven't had time to see.

It seems like it's trying to be the next Madoka and it's not trying to hide it. It looks very interesting from what I've seen from the first episode. It is something to keep an eye on for sure.

The first episode got a bit convoluted and hard to follow near the end, but it seems good, and there's plenty of bizarre mysteries to go around. Definitely need to keep watching this.

Looks like it already has meant some things. I haven't read it, but it apparently involves a dead mother and an inexplicable murder...

Another great episode, i am very impressed with this series so far. I already like it WAY more than Madoka, since it doesn't waste time getting to explanations plus its in a school setting! Really thought Blood Lad would be my favorite this season, guess not...

Not sure about better than Madoka! That's a pretty steep hill to climb! But I am certainly enjoying it, good to see more magical girl anime and this one has some really cool magic rules to it, very interesting, good emotional connections to the characters, their pasts, their families.

Lets be honest, madoka is overrated, unorganized and dry as hell. Its a great anime but soooooooo very lacking.

I disagree which you could probably tell from my last post. But let me say, if this one ends up bettering Madoka then I will welcome it!

Yeah, Madoka is a juggernaut for sure and really is one of my favorites. This one looks like it has its sights set pretty high though and I'm hoping it doesn't let up.

On another note, minor episode 2 spoilers

Episode 2:

Dramatic music alarm means new mission! lol

The way I see it so far is Illusioni is trying to be serious magic anime with cute girls while Fantasista Doll seems to be more light-hearted magic anime with cute girls (same as Fate/Kaleid).

So many mahou shoujo anime this season, its just great

From the look of things they aren't just tied to one of the Major Arcana but also to one of the 4 suites of the Minor Arcana as well

At least this episode explained that her cousin was actually dead, which was confusing me in the last episode.

It's very very Madoka, but it's been enjoyable so far.

Does anyone else feel like the character design is like something straight out of a video game?

I've only seen the first episode, but I'm not a huge fan at this point. The tarot card thing is a bit of a turn off for me, and the plot seems to be taking a very generic route (kid gets mysterious powers, stumbles through a few encounters by sheer luck/power, has no clue what is going on, gets picked up by an organization that teaches her what's going on, she joins up and they save the world).

That being said, the fights were good and I like the variety on fighting styles/characters that showed up near the end.
