I've read a couple mangas before although the very, very best that I shall proudly proclaim, will be Mahou Sensei Negima. Definitely for the magic genre, that is! Aside all the eechi accompanied with the manga :S, the artwork is freaking fantastic - one of the best yet I've seen, I mean its like you're totally watching an anime within the manga! However, the good stuff doesn't occur until around volume 3, when it transforms from a high-school comedy to a magical action packed manga which, without a doubt, WILL indeed pay off! Patience is all it requires to fall in love with this! ;D

Hey, have you read Inuyasha? It doesn't really fall under either shounen or shoujo because the author likes to play with both genres in this work, but it is best described as action/adventure/romance.. It has multiple couples, a good plot (in my opinion), and I don't really feel like it's episodic... It's about a girl, Kagome Higurashi, who due to certain events, finds herself transported back to the fuedal era Japan. There she gradually meets a handful of individuals who band together with her to complete a common goal.. (Trying not to spoil anything in case you haven't read it or seen it). I find the series pretty enjoyable.. It has a bit of comedy in there as well, and of course romance.
Just as a warning though, the art style in the manga isn't as censored as the anime. You will see blood and the occasional boob if you read this.. I haven't read the entire manga, so I cannot say if there is anything more than that in it, so it might be best if you steer clear of this if you aren't old enough, or mature enough to handle those things.. Sorry, I just don't want to be responsible for scarring anyone, and I don't know how old you are (and I don't want to know.. You know what you're able to handle and that's what matters) :P
Geez, i'm making it sound like hentai.... It's not! I just don't want you or anyone unfamiliar with the series, getting a nasty shock if they don't like their manga having anything like that in it.. Please don't take this warning personally lol :P

If you don't like that, then have you read Vampire Knight? I don't like it anymore, but I remember I used to be really into it. It's pretty well known I think, but the genres are drama, mystery, shoujo, supernatural... I'm positive it doesn't have anything inappropriate in it lol :P
It's got a lot of romance stuff in it.. There are a few different couples as well.. But this is all my knowledge of it from a long time ago..

Also, one that i've been interested in lately (but i'm not very far in) is The Bride of the Water God.. Drama, fantasy, romance, shoujo.. I really like it.. It feels pretty different to other stuff, in my opinion :P

Haha, I thought I didn't really watch or read many shoujo, but now some more are coming to me!

Have you heard of the popular Ouran High School Host Club? My friends and I used to be really obsessed with this one when we were just getting interested in anime/manga.. I haven't read the complete manga, but I have watched the anime.. I have a few volumes of the manga and it appears to be very similar to the anime.. and if it is then I can highly recommend it. I've heard a lot of praise about this series from manga-only fans as well. But anyway.. There's another one for you if you haven't heard of it :)
The genres for it are comedy, drama, gender bender, harem, romance, slice of life, school life and shoujo..
If you haven't heard of it, it's about this student, Haruhi Fujioka, who due to certain circumstances, ends up working for an all male host club in their high school, to repay a debt to these people.. It's pretty funny, in my opinion... Especially the cultural differences between Haruhi and the boys in the club. Haruhi comes from a poorer background and gets into the school through a scholarship, whereas the school Haruhi is in is rich and caters to the well-off members of society, like the boys in the club.. I find it pretty amusing :)

Another one I really enjoy that you may like (goes by a few names) is Perfect Girl Evolution/The Wallflower.. I really enjoy this one. Though, I haven't read it in a while... Its genres are also comedy, drama, harem, slice of life, school life, shoujo and romance. It's about this group of boys who live together and are behind in their rent, so their landlady offers them a deal; if they can turn her social reclusive, Gothic, horror-loving niece, into a respectable young lady, then she will not hassle them for rent again.. Or something like that. Of course, these bishies think they can do it, however, they quickly realise Sunako Nakahara is a lot more challenging than they originally thought she'd be..
I love this series, and I totally intend to continue reading.. I've just been pretty busy and lost track of it lately :P

Yeah, that's all I have for you unfortunately.. I'll be keeping an eye out for anyone else who replies to you (or even me), in case they have any other suggestions (which i'm sure they probably will).. I don't watch many shoujo.. I really like mystery and action sort of animes, so if you have any good ones to suggest then please do :)
Most of the ones i've suggested are pretty well known, but hopefully I have been at least a little bit of a help. I was also going to recommend Pandora Hearts to you, because I really love this one and I thought it was also a shoujo, but apparently it isn't.. I was pretty surprised when I read that it was apparently a shounen. But if you think you'd be interested in that then the genres are action, adventure, comedy, drama, fantasy, mystery, romance, shounen, tragedy and supernatural.. I am in love with this series, and it's ongoing at the moment.
Unfortunately, I also don't know many really romantic shoujo series.. I don't often enjoy romance-heavy series, where the 'love' the characters have is more important than the plot and growth of the story and characters.. But that's me.. I am entertained by the story rather than the drama and characters a lot of the time..

Hope i've been a bit of a help and suggested some you don't know, and sorry that was so long..

You named few of the biggest names in the manga world and I guess I should give Ouran another shot. It probably was my very first shojo series and being more of an action adventure fan, I never really got into it but well, now its all different
Totally developed a new perspective when it comes to shojo. Few of the series I mentioned are pretty good and I think you'll probably like High School Debut. It is one of the best rom com I've ever read

Anyway, Thanks for recommending these series. I was already contemplating Pandora Hearts. So its good to know its a good series.

Finally caught up with "One Piece" (Great Ongoing series),

Just finished "Monster Musume" (Never have laughed through multiple volumes of an entire manga series except for this one)

Switching gears now I'm interested in something like Horror/Mystery/Supernatural (Already Have read Higurashi) or Romance/Comedy. I do not care to read the same genre of manga repeatedly as it bugs me for some reason. need something more dark themed or just a good love story, either way I will be reading both series one after the other.

Could you guys recommend something of those Genres.

Oh and please god no H-Doujinshi

You should read Cirque du Freak / Darren Shan, it's a really good manga. It's a Horror/Supernatural manga with some dark moments. Without spoiling too much, I can say it's about a boy named Darren, he goes to a circus called Cirque du Freak with his friend Steve. It turns out to be a freak show where some crazy stuff happens. That's the best explanation I can give without spoiling, lol. It also includes vampires.

I could send you a link to where you can read it if you are interested

I am fairly new to reading manga and was looking for some recommendations. I am open to pretty much anything that isn't BL/ Yuri. I have seen countless animes and I don't really want to read manga's of anime I have already watched. I am currently only reading SnK, TWGOK, and History's Strongest Disciple. Any suggestions would be awesome. Also this is a link to the anime I have already seen if you are willing to look through it to help with you suggestions. http://myanimelist.net/animelist/Crowman

I'd say anyone who hasn't read "Alive: The Final Evolution", needs to read it. I loved it, and it's one of my favorites along with "Psyren"
