Arata the Legend - the characters were poorly defined in the anime as compared to the manga (the trauma Arata went through it never really showned) and we don't get to see just what an evil person Kadowaki is

Shaman King, especially when they were trying to get to patch village.

I suppose the anime adaption of Fruits Basket counts a bit a it completely ruined key points in Fruits Basket - so much so that the creator herself didn't want a second season as the story couldn't go on.

Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles' anime was so bad that CLAMP cancelled it. It completely ruined the plot of the manga and was FULL of filler and moved along so slowly. CLAMP was so pissed that they had OVA's made that stuck to the manga (though picked up at a much later point). However the anime still remains incomplete.

I guess this is why Sailor Moon is being remade. The creator never really liked the anime and how it changed a lot from the manga, and removed all the adult themes and implications.

Beelzebub was so disappointing, considering how good of a manga it is.

i agree with you about sailor moon. The main plots and difficulty of the story line was taken out and it was very childish

Rosario+Vampire was ruined with that god awful anime

This was the first one that came to mind. When the anime was first announced, I had high expectations for it but when I saw it...it left me speechless in a 'I can't believe how seriously they ruined such a good manga' sense. The anime was pure fanservice, though I did end up watching both seasons

I know it's titled Manga's with horrible adaptations, but I gotta job on this with a VN and a LN.

FFS Tsukihime and to a lesser extent, FS/N had pretty bad adaptations. Tsukihime was just all over the place in what it was doing, and jumping from arc to arc in spectacular scene fashion without ANY of the exposition. The end result was a horrible adaptation whose individual parts (animation, acting, etc.) weren't that bad. FS/N was victim to the same thing, jumping arcs, because they wanted to flesh out all the characters. And I do think it almost worked, but they didn't do that great a job in it. It wasn't as bad as Tsukihime though.

On the light novel side, legend of legendary heroes was soooooo bad. After it started so good too. I'm not even sure what happened with that one. It was like they had plans for adapting the entire series, but got shut down, so they tried to put something together to give it an ending, and promptly fell flat on their asses.

I don't see why a horrible adaptation should ruin the manga for you.

That is why the OP made that edit at the start. The title of the thread isn't implying what they intended. The intention is to identify manga which received a god awful adaptation, nothing more.

Just noticed this now and some of the flack the post is getting as a result of the original title. I've gone ahead and renamed it.

I'm newish to reading manga, and due to time constraints my plan at the moment is to either read the manga, OR watch the anime--not both. So I have no candidates for bad adaptations.

Fan service was over done to death and I hope season 2 would be like the manga. That's why I watched it.
Yikes!
