You know what? Rather than name an individual series, let me name a category:

Anything that involves the words "Shounen Jump", "Toei", "Pierrot", and/or "More than 100 manga chapters".

Includes in this illustrious list are: Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, Toriko, Dragonball Z, Yuyu Hakusho and Rurouni Kenshin.

When I hear those words, all I can read is "filler arcs" and "crappy animation budget". Because this combination of factors do not ever think of quality over quantity, and do not believe in taking seasonal or annual breaks so the manga author can catch up and write the story, we are stuck with insanely long runners with incredibly bad animation that makes flash toons look good in comparison. The first and one of the worst offenders is Dragonball Z, which took an entire friggin' year to kill Frieza off, and a bit more to kill Majin Buu off. Both DBZ's several-episode stretches of nothing but punches happening and the several filler arcs for Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Toriko, and D. Gray Man are all tailor-made just to waste our time and introduce us to the concept of fatigue.

But perhaps the worst offender to me is Rurouni Kenshin. NINETY-FIVE EPISODES and they couldn't animate the Jinchuu Arc. I count at least 40 unnecessary episodes that could have been replaced by the entire Jinchuu Arc, but apparently it was too much for production to pause for a year, wait for Nobuhiro Watsuki to pen the series, and then start work on the Jinchuu Arc then.

Okay, technically it isn't Toei or Pierrot (it's by Gallop and DEEN), but the central concept of "unnecessary fillers" and "terrible animation budget" shows up in spades, especially given that the art style is incredibly inconsistent throughout the entire series.

seriously? YuYu Hakusho? the anime was better than the manga itself

My current anguish is Tokyo Ghoul. For the sheer amount of plot and character development flushed down the drain(the reason why I loved the manga). But you know what can you do when a studio (Pierrot) decides to condense 72 chapters into 12 episodes. I guess the whole thing was just a commercial for the manga.

I had prepared myself as soon as I heard the episode count and the studio behind it..but it still hurts just to know anime only watchers will never know what it could have been.

The colors and soundtrack were good though.

-D.N.ANGEL (Augh)

-Tokyo Ghoul (I don't see with all the rushing they did, and ending it in the middle of an arc, that it was still able to get another season. HOW?

IT MAKES MORE SENSE!! And with that promo for the second season shows it's totally off the grid now =.=.

-Angel Sanctuary (Gah. Would it have seriously killed them to make at least 24 episodes?)

-Fruits Basket (That. Ending. WHY?)

-Ao no Exorcist (just the ending. I LOVED the ending theme tho'.)

-Beelzebub (ending, and animation issues *good example on the last page?*

Is Pupa's adaptation that bad? Maybe that's why I stopped watching it at its third episode...the length didn't really help either >.>...

-D.Gray-man (Fillers GALORE. I remember one filler arc where they find a girl with a dues-ex-machina ability (I forget exactly what they are called XD) but it breaks eventually (not soon enough tho' =.=;; Couldn't wait until it was over and done with, gee wiz.)

Edit: Forgot to write Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles. What a train-wreck.

At the moment, that's all that I got.

-I liked both FMA and FMA:B tho'. I've never seen the movies tho'.

idk, i don't usually watch the anime if I'm already reading the manga. I've always been more of a reader than a watcher anyway

^Second this, and it is also common sense that the original source is generally better than the adapted version.

The only Manga to Anime adaptations that are not horrible (that I have currently seen) : Natsume Yuujinchou, Mushi-shi, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Ghost in the Shell, Le Chevalier D'Eon, and The Rose of Versailles

Some of the Worst Offenders: Tsubasa Chronicles, Yumekui Merry, Karneval, D. Gray-man, Berserk Movies, Magi, Pumpkin Scissors, and Black Butler II

The worst one was when Gainax adapted the utterly fantastic Lucifer and Biscuit Hammer and changed literally everything, giving it this new weird art style and making it about angels and sex or something and calling Panty And Stocking. No idea what they were thinking when that one went on.

^

That's quite a strange connection between two completely unrelated series there.
