I wonder if they will do a different ED song each episode.

I find it funny how she involved her brother to qualify as the boy she speaks to for gaining her social skills back. He knows something is up, he just outgrew caring. I know I'd be annoyed if my sister suddenly wanted to hang out with me all the time w/o explaining why. The thing about it is that Tomoko is a pretty girl but by the time she is done following all those websites, something goes SERIOUSLY wrong Can't wait to see the next eps!

It's pretty damn funny so far, although sad. But relate-able to my elementary school days.

This series is everything I was hoping it would be. Its only been two episodes, but so far (in my personal opinion), Tomoko has the perfect balance of:

1). Desire to be popular
2). Resentment towards "normals"
3). Nerdy tendencies
4). Social awkwardness and self-esteem issues
5). Reclusiveness (without going full hikikomori)

Making her (for me personally), the most relatable loner character I know. Hikigaya came close for me last season, but he's like the loner superhero, not the "average Jo" loner lol. The only thing that throws me off is her attractiveness, but if she wasn't moe, then no one would watch the series so its perfectly sensible lol. But its only been 2 episodes, so i'll try to rein in my excitement in anticipation for the possibility of "character development" - Which many are looking forward to, but I personally am dreading (as that's the most unrealistic thing you can do to a true loner).

As much as I loved Hikigaya too, I thought it was kinda weird that someone as "creepy" as him could score a chick, possibly even two. (or three, if you include sensei)
I also find Tomoko adorable, as unatttractive as she is- her actions are just so adorable.
I also found Hikigaya kind of attractive with his smarts, despite the fact he's a bit freaky.

Crunchyroll needs to start subtitling OP's and ED's. I finally caught a subbed version of the ED on youtube, makes it a lot funnier.

Doesn't that cost CR extra money though to get the rights to subtitle them? I would have to assume that CR thinks it's a better choice to simulcast as many series as possible, and if they were to subtitle the OP's and the ED's, I think the amount of simulcast shows would go down.

That's weird, I didn't know that. That's kind of stupid if that's the case, I don't know why throwing subs into those songs would make a big financial difference. Funimation does it and they're cheap bastards who can't even be bothered to maintain a functional website.

I don't think it's so much about money as obtaining the actual licence agreements to sub them, those are separate from the anime itself.

The OPs and EDs have to do with getting cooperation from the artists (or their publishing companies), and the music biz is pretty hard about lyrics, so negotiations for those could become complicated, and potentially would take longer to get something to air, especially if they are done by different artists. Free subbers don't care about any of that, since they aren't paying anyone anything.

I do agree that it is notable that Funi manages to do it, but they only get a few shows each season. Maybe that even also contributes to how late they seem to be in getting them up and running for the initial episodes (just guessing though).

Episode 3

Ahahahahaha, I thought I would of woke up my neighbors because the episode was so fucking funny. Oh poor Tomoko...getting sick isn't so pleasant you know?

Anyways, very amusing episode. I spotted two references I think ....one Kuroko no Basket and other being Ghost in the Shell (I think). I'm not sure what the golden eye is from though...

Haha, yeah, I noticed the Kuroko reference as well.

I have to mention, though, that Japan's infamous rain claimed yet another victim in this episode: Tomoki.
What's funny is if Tomoko really wanted to get sick, all she needed to do is get rained on (and not shower or dry herself off); works every time if you're an anime character!

Edit:

I think I'm gonna start making a list of characters that have succumbed to the mystical power of Japan's rain, lol.

Oh god...this show is so freaking funny...when the teacher was questioning Tomoko i couldn't breath since she kept muttering trying to explain herself! Reminds me of Milton from Office Space lmao. Also, Kuroko and Ghost in the Shell references.

It predates WWII but I always think of Black Rain... which of course killed people.

It is an extension of the "catch a cold" we have. Not sure why it is so pervasive in our cultures and especially in Japan that being cold and wet gives you a respiratory infection... The navy proved by having soldiers sit in cold water for hours that it does not cause colds, or even for you to be more susceptible to colds. Ah well, some memes die very, very hard deaths or never die at all.

Kuroko reference was pretty obvious I thought!

This episode was just alright for me, not as good as the second one.
