I love this one, and am currently working through the series. Good gravy, it is painful to watch though. I can only handle an episode or two a day. I've you've been the weird person with crippling anxiety, you can tell that the writer is one of us. No one who hasn't been through it could possibly have made this.

I just want to give Tomoko a hug and tell her it will all be ok.

It's a bit too outlandish to be as painful as something like The Office (UK), but it was hilarious and still more grounded in otaku reality than most other animé comedy I've watched. Another manga I've got to read now.

This was one of my favorite comedies of all time, next to Nichijou and Azumanga Daioh. I didn't take the comedy seriously enough to be offended or disturbed like some people did. "Mean-spirited" as it might have seemed, it was f-ing hilarious to laugh at another man's misery, kinda like how everyone found it perfectly okay to laugh at that show "America's Funniest Home Video". Double-standards indeed.

Anyway, the fun part was how Tomoko's cringe-worthy failures kept building up to a climatic level. It was fun to see how they would top the ridiculousness of her failure in the next episode, as it is entertaining to see "bigger and better" in all forms of entertainment. I think the fact that it was supposed to be a depressing story merely made me laugh even more in a black comedy sense. It's morbid humor that only some of us like myself could understand, probably.

Just finished reading vol 5. I'm actually seeing a lot of improvement in Kuroki's social skills! New topics were explored in this volume I didn't expect to see personally, I liked the change of pace though. Vol 6 should be at my doorstep in a couple days Can't wait.

The only anime series I've ever watched twice.
