HXH destroys the 'ongoing competition' because it doesn't really follow this cliche. That and its a seinen.

Seinens are almost always in a league of thier own ala fma and fate stay series. Don't get me wrong though, a show doesn't need to be 'dark' or jaded to be the best. It's just the darker series usually have the best animation and direction throughout its lifespan.

Hunter x Hunter has definitely been the best ongoing anime out there since it first started airing imo. It only gets better and honestly I prefer this over AOT anyday. Although AOT is pretty good as well.

Guys, you're killing me :(

I don't have time to watch another long-runner, and yet you're making me start Hunter x Hunter now...

Oh well, let's see how the first few go

Google tells me this a touchy issue on the internet, but since when have any of those been considered seinen?

Seinen doesn't mean dark or gritty, it means adult. All three of those series are aimed at adolescents.

Nothing about this show is remotely close to anything I deem to be watchable at a fanatical level. Pretty much any show that starts screeching near the 100 episode mark is already disqualified simply because the episode count alone tells me where the show is going in every single arc (the good guy wins?).

It wins the "background noise champion" award between the others of its caliber, I will admit that and only that much. I find watching Attack on Titan to be phenomenally exciting as a non-manga reader though, despite its pacing issues as of late.

On a side note, you seem to make a lot of threads that belong in the Polls forum...

LOL @ background noise. Look at the poll results.
You always seem to be in the minority.
And this makes me question your "credibility".
Although tbh I never really cared about your long, pretentious posts.

And the mods don't seem to have a problem with my threads so you can take a sit.

Unfortunately this will probably be the last arc to be animated. There is one more arc in the manga but it is short. The manga is not over though. It sort of feels like the end of act I and the beginning of act 2, which doesn't exist yet.

In one piece terms think of it as the whole set of adventures before the straw hats entered the grand line. The whole manga up until now and to the end of the arc after the chimaera ant arc is pretty much that, the collection of small adventures before the real adventure starts. Unfortunately the manga artist takes so many breaks who knows when we will get to see that real adventure, and we will probably never get to see it animated.

It's not nicknamed Hiatus x Hiatus for nothing.
I believe right now it's in a middle of another break?

Yep. Even though some news sites reported that this hiatus will be a brief one, it's been about a year and four months since the last chapter was published. I wonder if this hiatus will surpass the previous longest hiatus which was 79 consecutive WSJ issues I believe.

For sure, i just always thought seinen was just a mature shounen.

The point i was just trying to make is that darker themed shows usually have better animation, art direction, and music then lighter themed ones. Which places them in a higher league (in my opinion, and of course there are exceptions)

I think it goes without saying that it's harder to project more serious tones or themes if you're using, say, crappy animation with low detail.

It makes sense honestly, though an interesting observation nonetheless.

Isn't there two different arcs after this one?

But either I looked up how long the Chimera Ant Arc is and its like 158 chapters long so we will be in this arc for a while.

I'm sure that if i didn't already read the manga then I would look forward to this more than AoT. I only look towards AoT moew because i haven't read the manga.

Btw, this isn't a spoiler, but the qualitative aspects, and the epicness to this arc is literally in my top 5 (Maybe top 3) Shonen arcs I've ever seen
