Nope. Not in the slightest. Seeing that I only have watched a total of THREE new anime out of all the seasons so far. I wait to see the catalog for the new season. Look at all of the bright cover pictures and leave

Not exactly. Yes, I do happen to watch shows that are popular and highly reviewed like Hunter x Hunter or Bleach, but I also kinda find myself watching all these overlooked anime shows as well as older anime shows. When I first got into anime, I kinda knew that I had to acquaint myself with the more famous anime shows like Death Note and Cowboy Bebop, but after a while, I kinda felt like watching stuff that other people wouldn't know of.

So in a way, I kinda can be hipster-like and intentionally watch stuff that's not being hyped up. I'm not an elitist by any means, I just find myself wanting to do a little self-exploring, I guess.

It just depends on the series for me. Usually how I determine what anime it is that I want to watch is by reading the plot and what it's about. Animation, music and trailers also play a part in my decision making process lol. I do watch anime that have high hypes about them if they sound interesting to me, but usually just to see what all that hype is about. I don't go into them with any high expectations, but rather with an open mind.

Not really. Hyping stuff usually leads to my disappointment. It's actually because of the SAO hype and fanboys/girls that I kinda hate SAO. It was Ok not great besides. People think its the greatest anime ever created smh. .Hack does the mmorpg genre better.

I give hyped shows a try but it doesn't guarantee I'll finish them. I dropped Sao and Madoka on the third episode. I actually did finish Gargantia but because I liked it. However, I didn't think it was that good or that it deserved much hype at all, apart from the first 3 episodes.

I learn my lesson about riding the hype wave
the hard way. (namely Bleach, Hetalia, and SAO)
Rare times that the hype wave was a good thing
was Sailor Moon (back in the day), Cowboy bebop,
Evangelion, and Attack on Titan.
