Unlike the ending of the previous arc, this arc ends on a happier note. Ulla is satisfied with her life, Kiriko can still be at her side, and we see a part of Scar that was never thought possible with the gravekeepers.

I know some people are finding this show to be getting more confusing but lets try to not think too much about the logic here. We've known from the start that the world in this anime has really strange logic. I think it is at least trying to explain things bit by bit.

I thought it was a good ep. It made me cry through the last half. The only thing I am confused about is who the ghost-girl is at the end.

Isn't that the purple haired girl from the OP who was flying around? No clue who that is exactly but I'm guessing she's important in either the next arc or in a future one.

'Twas a good ep, still some things that didn't quite make sense there at the end of the ep. In particular, how Ulla's sister managed to freeze time waiting for "something." And since she was a baby in her mother's womb, how could she have comprehended enough to wish for something like that? Also, was this "something" specifically Scar, or could it have been any gravekeeper or just about anyone? I'd imagine we'll probably find out a bit more on this later on... maybe. And the same can be said, I guess, about Ulla (on how she could have comprehended enough to accept her mother's dying wish). My only theory on that would be that since they were mother and children, they all shared some "magical" bond that allows them to share thoughts/wishes with one another or something like that. Strange stuff I guess, but it's an anime, so it's allowed to raise a few eyebrows here and there sometimes. ^^

And it's funny, I was actually expecting the darkness that Ortus harbors to be a whole lot more complex than what it is, lol.
Anyway, bring on the next arc!

Okay, so, I still really am enjoying this show, the animation is GORGEOUS and the characters are well done.

BUT it is starting to become a little too arc-y for me. I have yet to really see a central conflict and now, over halfway through, there's still no sense of urgency. Ai's traveling around to save the world, but from what? Apparently the dead and their goddess are doing pretty well. The living are still alive. So what's the point here? She hasn't shown much, if any, character development in the seven episodes we've seen so for, so there's not even character development to keep us locked in. It almost feels like these are short vignettes with emotional highs at the end, just strung together with the same characters and called a story.

Again, I really am enjoying the ride, and I hate to be so tough on the show, but I really am a little bothered that there hasn't been more concrete movement plot-wise. I'm not one of those people who thinks you have to have a plot to make something interesting, but without one, you'd better have really stellar characters and character development. Sunday Without God basically just makes me feel like there's going to be a big payoff eventually, but I'm nervous it won't deliver.

I think the show easily has the most interesting setting out of all the summer titles. If anything, I'll stick with it just for the exploration.

They really nailed down a cool concept! I just hope they can execute it well by the end of the season.

Since the story is based around light novels each of the arcs is probably a different light novel. The first 3 episodes was the first novel, the next 3 was the 2nd novel etc. That's why they probably have such clear cut arcs. As far as the overall picture goes im sure we will learn more as the story goes on.

I think that people saying theres no character progression or sense of urgency are a little bit off, look at episode 3 specifically and try to tell me theres no character progression? This arc was all about Ai learning that the dead dont always want to be buried and that maybe their 'happy ending' isnt with finally dying in a grave, it matured her outlook of the world from 'Im gonna bury everyone and then I'll have saved the world' to 'I just want to find out what I need to do to save the world'. Also theres scars progression, acting substantially more human than when she was when introduced.

That said I might just be a fanboy

Yup, I agree with you, there's plenty of progression in this show. People are just hating on it to be trolls and contrary... like the person quoted below.

Yea you right, i want people to see more realistic posts instead of just "this anime is super good". Im not trolling and you claim there is character development? like what? Just because Ai is more knowledgeable about gravekeepers, dead and alive people does not mean she has progressed as a character. she is is still the same stubborn and foolish girl she was from episode 1.

People are trying to insert one thing into this anime that people have been trying for years with all anime, LOGIC. There is a great void between logic and anime, that makes them so easy to lose yourself in. So just set back and watch the show.

Gold, if you hate it so much, why do you watch it?I know you didn't come out and say that you do, but that's the impression I am getting from your comments.
