So is anyone playing Dragon's Prophet? I have mixed feelings about the game.

This is a free to play MMO game with a cash shop (not pay to win from the looks of it, you definitely get better items in game...however you will probably spend money on more inventory space and more spaces to keep dragons).

The idea of the game is that you're a dragon tamer. Main story line is the basic fight the bad guys who are given power by some big ol' evil dragon. You can start taming dragons early, level 6~8 ish. It's now in open beta, though it's been said there will be no wipe when it becomes official (let's face it, all games are in a permanent state of open beta). That being said, the graphics and such are a little behind and a bit stiff, but otherwise still decent. It lacks a bit in customization.

It really did not get much press, I didn't see anything for it, I heard of it from a friend who heard of it from a friend etc.

^^Website if anyone is interested. I think it's a game with potential. And I've always loved dragons, the concept of a game where you go out and tame stuff on your own seems fun. Be prepared to have to look up or ask around on how to do a bunch of things, the tutorial lacks a bit - however it does answer some of the very basics. It needs lots of work.

You get to chose between four classes yet I'm still not 100% sure how it all works. There is Guardian (seems tanky), Ranger and Sorcerer (seems DPSy), and Oracle (seems Healy) yet all classes seem to work well as DPS, Oracle seems to make an odd tanky combination if built right.

And yes, you have a lot of say in your stats - each level up you get points to put into stats...dmg, health, defense, etc. Even points into a stat called Charisma which affects your Dragons making them easier to catch and stronger when you have them.

Dragons can be mounted for speed and summoned like fighting pets. There are tanky type pets and dps type pets. I haven't found a healing type (cept a tanky type that heals itself).

Well, lemme know if you play or are interested in playing! Tell me what your opinion of the game is. I'm not normally thrilled with games that force me to use the mouse to look around, and you use it to do your main attacks but I'm trying to get used to it. xD

Tried this for some time, in the end it just felt a bit "cheap" and behind the times. I'm not sure if I agree it's not a pay to win game.....I think it's a f2p p2w game like most of the free to plays.

Vindictus probably is a bit more appealing than this title. It's really hard to find a decent MMO today though.

The only reason I feel like it's not a P2W game is that the cash shop doesn't strongly cater to stat based items. It sells basics: stable room, inventory room, stat resets, the basics you see in a lot of cash shops.

A lot of the things might help you level or catch dragons but doesn't seem to give a strong advantage over someone who isn't buying stuff.

I do agree it feels behind the times which is sad because the concept seems really good.

For what ever reason I found this game laggy, clumsy and empty (I played for 2 frustrating hours and only saw 3 other players). Besides the unique dragon combat and neat character stats, this game doesn't seem worth while in its current state.

So many better games to play

It's open beta so my expectations aren't huge for a game that's not polished. And lately the player population has been going up (it's only come out of closed beta a month or so ago). Last night I was surprised to find a rather large group of people in the Satuma area questing and chit chatting (the starting area alone).

As long as cash shop items gives you ANY advantage, it's an advantage others are not getting. A true non-p2w game is a cash shop ONLY offering cosmetics/aesthetic items.

So, no. This is a fully cash game.

The things that can give you an advantage in the CS can be bought with in game currency. When you run dailies you earn Dragon Insignias and you can farm them rather easily and buy whatever you want from the CS except Inventory space, bank space, and dragon slots. (You also miss out on the costume discounts but those give you no advantage in game).

Thus far I've found it easy to get Dragon Insignias, you're limited to how many you can get daily but it's still a fair amount.
