Marquis Albert du Blois from Gosick definitely deserves mention here.

Taiga Aisaka's father in Toradora.

Not exactly the worst, but a huge (despite his shortness) douche nonetheless!

Ging Freecss - your son is abandoned by you as a baby because you are selfish. He tries to look for you when he's older, and you tell him you don't want to see him?

Has to be Gendo from Evangelion. Abandons his son as soon as his wife dies,
and never once attempts to even talk with his son. He later admits he thought so little of himself he thought anything he did would just harm Shinji. It did the exact opposite. He's the worst parent in anime because he did what he thought was best for his child and could not have done a worse job.

Zouken Mato in Fate/Zero.

Zouken could easily count as most evil anime character period. If you don't want to murder him by the time you finish playing Fate/Stay Night, there's something wrong with you.

No I was watching Fate/Zero, but I still had the same experience.

we all know it's Gendo, and maybe Yuno's parents? Not to the same extent (even though it's messed up to lock your daughter in a cage)
and maybe Ganta's mom and dad. I mean more as crappy parents, I mean I read the manga and watched the anime, where is his father, is he diddeling himself in a freaking corner the whole time...and his mother......self explanatory.. if ya know what I mean.

I tend to block out bad memories. Ging and Monkey D. Dragon aren't that bad though, at least they had the decency to leave their sons with someone who truly loves them. Gon with Mito, and Luffy with his grandfather Garp. Neither Gon nor Luffy had bad childhoods.

I'll agree with Shou Tucker. That episode just made me sick. Thankfully Scar made it a lot easier on me. Kotoura's mother was quite horrible too, she just completely disowned her, thankfully she had such a wonderful grandfather to take care of her.

I like to remember the good parents of anime more than the bad ones :
Jinbei's dad from Mushibugyo
Nagisa's dad from Clannad
Ryuji's mom from Toradora
Hughes from FMA

Let's just think of those and forget this depressing thread.

Now let me stop you there. Have you finished the entire Clannad series & actually paid attention? I don't see how anyone could possibly say this. Maybe Tomoyo's father, or Tomoyo himself ( although I disagree, but we'll drop it ), but how Nagisa's father? The man would give his life for Nagisa if he could/had the opportunity. I just see no reasoning behind this.

That's exactly what xxJing is saying. It's more uplifting to think about good parents than bad ones, and Akio is a prime example of a great parent.

If we can say Uncles then I would say William Twining's uncle from Makai Ouji: Devils and Realist, pretty much in the same boat as Hayate's family.

Kazuma's dad from Kaze no Stigma,

Haruka's family from Little Busters! Dont think I really need to explain this one

Ren's Dad from They are my noble masters,

Shou Tucker from FMAB of course! He is a total freak and probably not even human. Medusa from Soul Eater is really terrible too, basically a female version of Tucker. In terms of negligence, Gendo Ikari ranks #1. He's really manipulative too. I thought Lucy Hearfilia's Dad was a total a**hole and it filled me with happiness when she stood up to him.
