We have this thread... but...

I have never actually seen that perfect anime.

I have this view that if you have watched a perfect anime, you don't want to watch anything else, since you're always comparing animes to the perfect one. It is always easier to point out the imperfections rather than the perfect.

I would say Strawberry Panic is damn close.

There can be more than one perfect anime though

Reply to OP: For me that perfect anime is Flowers of Evil.

It's not focused on plot, which is probably why is a turn off to a lot of anime viewers, it's heavily focused on characters and art direction. If you watch the anime, there's a part where 15 minutes of the episode was just showing two people walking around the town, no speech, no dialogues, just two people walking.
A lot of people would lose patience with that sort of art direction.

But for me, that was one of the most epic scene in anime. Two characters walking, hand in hand, face down through a run-down town.

really liked the manga and got really excited for anime, but I watched 10 seconds of the anime couldn't take anime more. I know that its trying be more "realistic" but it would have been a lot better if they stuck to the basic anime animation IMO

Too bad, you don't know what you're missing. Don't mean to be rude, but you've only watched 10 seconds of the anime, and called it quits just because of the art style. I know its just personal preference, but there's a lot more things to be considered here, like the story, the characters, the themes, etc. If you don't like it, fine, but don't take it out on the art style, take a good honest watch of the episodes and decide whether or not you think its good and how it compares to the manga.
On another note, the person responsible for the art in the anime adaptation of Flowers of Evil (Hiroshi Nagahama) was also responsible for the art of the anime versions of Detroit Metal City and Mushishi.

Too me ( and im prolly gonna shit for it lol) One Piece is the most complete anime out there. Character devolvement surpasses Bleach and Naruto. I liked how each character had their own arc so you really got to understand each characters back story and its funny how the characters interact with each other with such different personalities. The settings in One Piece are better because each Island differs from each other so you don't feel like every place they visit is the same; whereas in bleach you're either in the Ichigo's hometown or the soul society ( kinda boring) and in naruto your in some village (also boring). Also the balance of humar, drama, and action is pretty good also. I like how even in the most serious moments random goofy shit happens that makes you laugh; like how Vergo, although is serious and straightforward, would have random shit stuck to his face that mad me lol. Furthermore, I hate ichigo as a protagonist. That fact that his swordplay rivals that of shinigami who've been using swords for 1000's of years is kinda ridiculous, also giving him the powers of the three most dominate forces in that world is kinda lame. Don't mind Naruto that much. Although the fox chakra gave him clear advantage over everyone else, he actually trained and work hard to master it. But Luffy is just a boss. Out of all the big three, he's the only one who's actually the bad guy. Going against the government, the 4 emperors, the shichibukai, and the celestial without hesitation. If he was real, he'd be a terrorists. He's literally turing that world on its head. And lastly the powers. Ichigo's power are too generate. I swing my sword and a giant wave comes out of it. Not really unique. Naruto has very unique abilities so thats a plus for naruto. But I like concept of the zoan, paramecia and logia types; and weaknesses of each so victory depends on how well you know your fruit and skill rather than raw power. And haki is pretty cool also. So yeah In my hierarchy it goes One Piece, Naruto, A bag of dirt, Bleach.
yes
I lot of people give Highschool of the Dead so much grief because of all the fanservice, but I personally love it. Okay, I know it's flawed. Typical zombie story with boobs thrown in to shake things up. But I like the characters (they don't develop a lot, but there are also only 12 episodes) and the action scenes are pretty awesome. The fanservice is actually something I like about the show. Yes it can be over-the-top at times, but I like how it's not shy and since there's so much it doesn't feel misplaced (I hate when you have shows that have almost no fanservice except that one panty shot that serves no purpose and is a total distraction).

Do I think it's perfect? No. But I love it, despite all the hate it gets.
yes
Gintama silver soul forever and ever and ever seriously every single episode is amazing and I'm sure I'll never get bored of it (even though the anime might be finished but I still rewatch the old seasons) the characters can be serious and hilarious and are absolutely impossible to dislike. They're all so realistic with their strengths andweaknesses and also voiced by amazing voice actors gintama is also the king of parodies That appear in the most random moments. Honestly humor action drama... Gintama has it all.

yeah
Natsume Yuujinchou: It was such a relaxing anime to watch, the stories were endearing and touching, and I'm a huge fan of the "paranormal" It's probably the only anime that I will ever buy. I can't praise this anime enough, it's one of my favorites of all time and inspired me to write.
yeah no !!! Bakemonogatari (or really most things by Shinbo) Fate/Zero Natsume Yuujinchou (although I have yet to hear anyone say bad things, I suspect that it's probably boring to a good portion of people) Humanity has Declined (Really stretching the definition of "perfect") Baccano (Another huge stretch) Rurouni Kenshin OVA's (This time stretching the definition of "terrible" -- I've never heard anyone not like this at least a bit, but it's really on the darker side, which not all people go for) Usagi Drop (A stretch on both counts)

..how about Naruto? lots of love/hate for this anime but for ME it is perfect..Tenjo Tenge is another one..perfect for me, I love it and watch it over and over. Sometimes I just watch certain episodes that I really like..same for Naruto. AND....I just started watching One Piece, so far ..perfect. I don't know why I waited so long to check it out. I am loving this anime. I don't want to forget Big Windup and GetBackers..both are perfect, I watch them over a lot too.

With all the excellent anime out there I can't understand why "one" would be limited to ..well..just one anime.

I don't consider them perfect (perfection is a bad thing), but the Monogatari series and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei are two anime that I love to pieces, and I was surprised to learn that there are lots of people who dislike them.

I guess for me, it would be Oreimo. It's perfect in that it's the best harem anime because unlike other harems i've seen, Oreimo has the most funniest, interesting harem of all time rather than have all of the girls in the harem be mindless drones who are hopelessly in love with the protagonist, plus it's funny, the most enjoyable, and very light hearted.

I loved Future Diary when I watched in subs a while back, but I'm sure the better portion of people out there have their complaints about the series, whether it's the overdone blood and gore, the whiny main character, or the almost overly-complex story. I call it my favorite series just because I enjoy watching it so much. Still objectively, it leaves some things to be desired...

If we're talking guilty pleasures, I'd say even though I tend to watch mostly action anime, I watch "slice of life" anime a lot now too, even though I'm sure plenty of people think it's boring. I love "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" and I guess it's slice of life. The series is adored by a huge fan base, and for good reason I suppose. The thing is, the fans, me included, can sometimes kill the series... And the critics hate the whole premise...

I'm currently watching Mirai Nikki (Future Diary) and I agree with the "better portion of people". I won't bash this anime because it's still something people should watch, but there is an over-complicated plot (I got lost once that group of friends all had their own diary) and I hate how the owners just announce their names and what their diaries do. Plus, all the diaries are pretty much the same. The characters are cool though, especially that one girl with the bad eyesight. (I'm sorry, I'm so bad with names)

For me it's Guilty Crown (Pics in spoiler since they're pretty big)

If you can look past some of the plot holes and lack of character development for a few of the characters then you have a decent little series.
There's even a visual novel that's a prequel: GC: Lost Christmas (Again, pics in spoiler)

A transfer student named Nagisa transfers to Miator Acedemy, one of three prestigious girls' schools on a hill called Astrea. The three schools, Spica, Miator, and Lulim have what is known as the "Etoile". Nagisa meets a beautiful girl named Shizuma and falls in love with her, while learning her deep, dark secrets. Much to her friend Tamao's dismay
Meanwhile, at Spica (best school by the way) a shy girl named Hikari is head over heels in love with Amane, the "prince" of the school, much to her best friend, Yaya's dismay.
Lulim really doesn't have any drama, but they do play quite the role, especially Chikaru.

And that is my very ADD descrpition

Well for me a "perfect anime" in my eyes would be things like Angel Beats, Clannad After Story, Attack on Titan ext but there are plenty of people that don't like them even friends and I accept that. However a "guilty pleasure" as you put it is something entirely different those are things like Rosario + Vampire, High School of the Dead, Highschool DxD, or Yugioh that you know deep down is stupid as hell but you enjoy it anyway for reasons you can't really explain lol
