I used think Naruto was the best thing that happened. On Thursday my brothers and I would watch it and now I can't stand any of their annoying personalities and actions. I will admit some pretty awesome stuff happened during that part of the show but the immaturity of most the characters really bug me. I used to be a bit younger than the characters and I could relate to all the silliness and being immature playing pranks but now that the viewers and characters have matured I love Shippuden a lot more than I ever did Part l.

Vampire Knight. Wow, I actually HATE that show. I have never said that about any anime but I really cannot stand Vampire Knight. Just like Naruto I thought it was awesome and I felt so mature watching it. I decided to watch one of my old 'favourite' episodes and I just sat there thinking 'Why did I ever like this show?'. The plot was really good but the ending was so disappointing and it left on a cliffhanger and the quality of the anime was just terrible. It could have had a much better ending I feel like we waited all that time and it was barely entertaining or exciting. The character progress was good though I enjoyed that : )
Not trying to bash the show, I used to be obsessed but now I just don't see why I ever watched the show.

Oops sorry for the long rant. Can't stop it once I get started

I used to like Naruto, Pokemon, and a few other of the animes everyone has heard of even if they don't watch anime. Now I hate them and I like most of the shows I watch in fact those animes are the only ones I hate so far. Pokemon was aimed towards little kids and the times it aired were the worst and it got too long after Diamond and Pearl. Still like the Pokemon series before Diamond and Pearl as well as the movies but the games will always be better. I feel like the plot fell apart on Naruto only a few episodes into Shippuden. Now there's only about 5 or 6 episodes in Naruto where if they are on I'll watch them.

They butchered everything back when we were kids though. Sailor Moon, Starblazers, Escaflowne... you name it, they choppped it up and turned it into something unrecognizable.

I get nostalgia-attacks when I see character designs from the 80s. I always loved the way they drew the faces of the girls, sometimes the hairstyles were ridiculous, but the long thin faces and the graceful bodies were really pretty to me.

Highschool of the Dead. For the longest possible time, I possessed this magical ability to ignore fanservice. Now.....not so much.

dragon ball z haha i loved it when i was a kid but now i see how silly and redundant it is -- it is still a good show i think because it was the height of shounen anime and one of the first to appear in the u.s. so... also i don't think i would appreciate other animes and especially parodies if i had never seen DBZ

Bleach: The circle of facing strong opponents, then power up, then facing strong opponents again make me tired.

Index series: Too old for that. Don't like Touma at all.

Yes, they did ruin everything back then, often not even bothering to translate, just making up their own stories, changing names, places, genders, etc. But... the good thing is...

It made me want to learn Japanese which in turned opened up a world of possibilities for me. For that, I will be forever grateful to them for butchering the anime and manga of my youth. Wouldn't be where I am today if not for that! It wasn't what they intended but their awful introduction to Japanese culture and language made me want to learn more about it. If they'd done a better job of it, I might never have done what I did and gone where I've gone.

The funny thing is, Macross was actually about a cultural war, and it was won by Minmei singing our songs. She was the first singing idol, the first idol in war. So much carry on anime came from that and at least they didn't lose that part. The Protoculture which was perverted into just an energy source was in fact real culture. For me, anime and then manga was a Japanese cultural reverse invasion. And I welcomed the invaders with open arms...

There's no Anime like that for me. Either i like it instantly and keep liking it or never like it. Though i'm rather new to anime in a way...

When thinking about it. I enjoyed Linebarrels of Iron more the first time i watched. Then i didn't as much the second time. Also that only counts for the first two episodes. I always disliked the third episode and forward ever since i first saw it. But i loved the two first episodes. But as said, now i don't even like those two. xD
Also Pokémon isn't as good now as the first season. So in a way, i don't like Pokémon "anymore", although that only goes for the modern/new ones. If i look at the first Pokémon seasons and movies, i still love them alot, if not more than before since the style is so unique from modern animes. <3

I started watching anime in the early 2000s. I remember liking way below average series like Pita Ten and Futakoi. If I were to hear about the latter now, I'd stay away from it just because it has "futa" in it's title (no futas there though, lucky for 10 year old me).

But yeah, I'm not very familiar with pre-mid-nineties anime other than what has been presented as cartoons here (Sherlock Hound, Moomin, Silver Fang, Alfred Quack, Around the world in 80 days etc.)

I don't know what's wrong with you guys. I mean, I know it's always been cool to hate on DBZ, but...you didn't know it's quality when you first saw it?
I'm a huge damn fan of DBZ, like all old DBZ fan's should be. And it ain't no Mobile Suit Gundam, Fist of the North Star, or Berserk(all amazing recommendations!)

But it's a decent watch....if you're seen Dragon ball.

Seriously why does everybody forget Dragon Ball? Did you for some stupid reason watch DBZ without watching Dragon Ball first? Why would you do that? It's like watching Zeta Gundam before Original Gundam, you don't get all the references and half the characters are fully developed. Dragon Ball did all the fun crazy stuff, it was an adventure guys, A FREAKIN ADVENTURE. After you're done watching Dragon Ball, you wanted more, so they provided more.

You didn't watch Dragon Ball Z for character development, you couldn't! Goku was a completed character by then, he reached his pinnacle of actual fucks to give. He's an adult not a innocent child. A dorky adult, but still an adult.
As you'll remember, Goku and his completed character don't make a very compelling story, so they put the guy on a bus all the damn time, and give screen time to his son, the incomplete character.

Of course, the fans wanted more Goku, so they brought him back to life.....completely derailing Gohan's character development that was previously established.

Lets just end my opinion with "Dragonball Z went on a little longer than it should have.....but we kinda asked for it to"

Nostalgia usually gets me by when I watch things I used to like a lot.

But I think I would've liked Code Geass a lot more if it had been one of the first things I watched. Although this goes in reverse too; there are some anime I couldn't stand when I started watching anime that I now think are completely amazing (like Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Serial Experiments Lain, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, etc.).

You know, it's odd. I saw Code Geass during it's first Adult Swim block, and I loved the hell out of it.
But not that I've seen the original 3 Gundam's......I can appreciate it far better. Lelouch was cool and all, but he ain't got nothing on Char Aznable. The fact every Code G villain is an anagram, throw-back, and reference to Universal Century Gundam Villains just makes it all the better...and the fight scenes are hilariously crazy.
