I actually liked the first episode. Yeah it felt a bit rushed but it didn't annoy me. I personally like most of the characters expect the highschool idol what ever her name was. I loved the fact that the OP(I think it was the OP?) was instrumental. The ED was good as well. It reminded me of a Vocaloid song.

I think so because it did have the same theme as the PSP version:

Wow talk about disappointment. The plot has such high potential, yet they made such a bad anime. It wasn't scary, wasn't interesting, and none of them were thinking outside the box. Just a bunch of people stuffed in a school, walking around and whining.

To be fair, this was the FIRST episode and according to folks who played the game, it was very faithful. There might not be a lot of action but you have to remember that it was sort of a bit of a set up to things to come soon.

Of course. I didn't expect the first episode to be as good as the first episode of attack on titan for instant. Even so, this one just didn't work for me. The first episode is usually the foundation for the anime serie, if it sucks the rest will probably be a lot like it. Well seeing as i had high expectations, i suppose it deserves to get one more chance at least. Will try out the next episode with little hope in mind.

I see that you don't comprehend the concept of 'buildup'.

Of course they are just going to be walking around and whining in the first episode. It would have been so rushed if the first murder happened.

And anyway, Attack on Titan is a shounen show, so they need to throw in action right away or the kids watching it will get bored. Danganronpa was aimed at older teenagers, and because of this, the directors don't have to immediately just throw in action and drama within the first couple of minutes just to catch the attention of them, because their attention spans have probably grown since they were 10.

I obviously know the difference, that type of condescending way of talking is a bad habit and you should work on it.
Either way, i wasn't expecting the first murder to happen right away, but what they need is something in the first episode to keep the viewers interested. On that note, they failed. The episode was around 20 minutes, taking away the explanation of the school system(4 min) and character introduction (1-2 min), the rest was simply people walking around. Well either way, i want the shows i watch to catch my interest so i have a reason to continue watching. You are free to do as you like.

I liked the first episode, but like people have already stated, it really needs to pick up in the next episode

I think I might leave this show until all the episodes are out and then marathon it all at once.

I'm still debating on whether to do that or not.

I just finished the 1st episode and I like how they just ripped the executions from the game and just upscaled them for the anime. Pretty lazy if you ask me but I'm not expecting anything from this anime because this is being directed by the guy who did Devil Survivor 2 and frankly that adaption was a pile of dog shit.

i was watching this for the girls...

I once watched anime for story... then I learn that watching it for plot is better.

I feel really superficial saying this, but I had a hard time dealing with the character designs. They just felt so... overdone and cartoony, and I had a hard time accepting that these people were in the same room, much less empathizing with their plight.

That said, I'm interested in seeing where the story goes, so will be following this show at least for the time being. So far, it seems to be Battle Royale without the social commentary, but I guess the murder-solving will be the real meat of the show.

Yes, I get it. You'd rather than doing a gradual buildup where the explain the basic premise of the show that they would open up with violence and explosions and people dying. Perhaps you should just stick to Attack on Titan, since obviously you like that enough to compare the first episode of this to the first episode of that.

The animation kinda seems lackluster tbh. That aside the plot looks solid. Not something you would expect but it is interesting nonetheless. I really enjoyed the first episode and the suspense of who will actually kill and be killed is too exhilarating. Definitely giving this anime a shot

What you seem to not comprehend is that i want a great build and a great start. Attack on titan managed to do both, and if you ask me danganronpa did neither.

Its being directed by the same person as Devil Survivor 2 The Animation? Welp, my expectations for this fell a bit (DS2 was ok average at best)

except he did:

angel beats

carnival phantasm

jinrui wa suitai shimashita

kamisama dolls

seto no hanayome

blame the storyboard for devil survivor 2 not the director...

I now point my blame at the story board writer(s)!

lol

don't take my previous post so seriously AnimeKami, it was a knee jerk reaction post at best
we don't need to start listing things haha

if anything, I don't care about who the director or the writer are, I tend to make my judgements on the quality of the show itself.

and I usually finish shows I start, good or bad, just to see how it is in its entirety (but I will never finish Aoi Sekai no chuushin de, lol NOPE, first episode was enough)
