Just finished both of the series. Never thought I'd find Tales of Melodies better, after enjoying a heck of a lot of Memories. I particularly enjoyed seeing the anime jump from past to present, back and forth I felt more for the characters in tale of melodies than memories, especially for Yuuko. I wonder if they can get another series in since the manga is still ongoing.
lock if duplicate Quick question, Which couple do you think had the best story? |

I prefer the Renji and Chihiro story. In regards to memories vs. melodies, I prefer memories, mainly because it has 2 very good stories while melodies has 1 that is very good and 1 that is so-so.

While I didn't really care too much for Mizuki's story, Yuuko's was really great. Memories was a lot of fun as well, and I certainly loved them both, but Yuuko's story may be one of the single greatest things I have seen. As soon as MangaGamer gets ahold of Ef: The Latter Tale, I am certainly buying both visual novels. As far as continuing mangas go, I don't think that means much. I am pretty sure that the show (and Manga) are based on the visual novels (NSFW:http://www.mangagamer.com/detail.php?goods_type=1&product_code=22). The Wikipedia article refers to the manga as an adaptation of the visual novels (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ef_a_fairy_tale_of_the_two#Manga). It is written by the scenario writers of the VN, though, so I guess it could contain additional canon material that could possibly be adapted, but I wouldn't count on it. |

Memories kicks the shit out of melodies IMO.
Memories is one of my favorite romantic dramas ever and it's just so beautiful to look at the art animation. Melodies was a letdown that couldn't hold up to what Memories was. |

Memories definitely. But Melodies is still good. It kinda connects everything together.

Melodies is more serious while Memories has more generic settings. I thought these shows were both extremely engaging, and were equal. I loved how minor characters and major characters switched roles between the series and they received character development throughout both. This series is definitely a gem.
To answer the OP: The best relationship was without a doubt: Yuuko and Himura. |
