I loved the show. Great characters, great music. And the ending tied things up in a very satisfying way.

I thought the show was amazing and I could really relate with Satou and his anxieties. It was this show that actually got me to be more serious about school and what I want to do in the future.

I also found it interesting how all the different formats of the story (novel, manga, anime) had distinct differences. The manga was noticeably darker than all the other formats and the novel allowed you to get into Satou's head and see everything from his point of view.

I really liked the anime as a whole, it had a way of addressing real issues people might actually deal with and putting a dark comedic spin on it.

Since we have "food stamps" (a misnomer now, since I don't think any state still issues paper for that), the equivalent in the U.S. would have to be when your landlord posts an eviction notice on your door.

While that was a nice touch in the manga version - which meant that it remained closer to the original novel - the anime adaptation is my favourite version: In regards to the plot, it acts as a best of both worlds. I thought that manga started stretching itself out into strange side-plots later on whereas the anime focused mainly on the original story, with a couple of the better original plotlines from the manga added in as filler.

It's a strange franchise: I love re-watching it on occasion, but every time I do I end up depressed for the next two or three days as I worry that one day I may realise that I have slowly turned into a real life version of Satou or Yamazaki...

Oh, please don't misunderstand! I firmly believe that every anime fan should watch it at some point: It has some fantastic comedic moments which counterbalance it's stark warnings.
