I've missed Genshiken so much!!! I'm so glad it is back. I never read the Genshiken second season manga so I don't know how closely this will follow it but either way I am enjoying it so far. I love how Genshiken always makes sure to add references to other animes in order to make it aware that it is for otakus.

On a side note Genshiken the second season was licensed by NISA and will be seeing a DVD release in the near future.

I have read the original series manga and I'm working through the second season's manga as it's being released here in the UK. However, this was my first forray into the anime adaptations. It seems like a nice adaptation, if I had to pick up on anything, it would be that Ohno-san's voice sounded a lot higher pitched than I would have imagined.

Genshiken was one of the very first (Maybe first 10?20?) animes I watched. It has a special little nostalgia vibe in my heart, even though I dont remember much from the previous seasons.

Welcome to the NHK, Lucky Star, Genshiken....something about these series sets themselves apart from others.....in some way.

Looking forward to more!

I have no prior knowledge of Genshiken. Kuchiki was massively irritating and went far in murdering and defecating in the carcass of my curiosity, but Chika and Sue slowed my departure and the Monogatari references made me stay.

I don't think my teeth will stop grinding whenever Kuchiki is on screen though; people like that flip my berserker switch. But because of this, Hato taking him out was one of the most satisfying things I've ever seen in a first episode.

☐ Hated it.
☐ Disliked it.
☐ Indifferent.
☐ Liked it.
☑ Loved It.

I'm happy that they are keeping the "feel" of the series even if the voices I'm still trying to get used to. LOL

Generally, I'm okay with the new voice actors (even Ogiue works fine given her maturation in the intervening months)...except for Kuchiki. I don't mind his inanity specifically, but for some reason the voice used for him just rubs me the wrong way.

Oddly, this is one of the few anime where I read the manga first, and I do find it a little tougher to like it as much because I already know the jokes. Don't get me wrong, its still funny. However, like the manga, it suffers from something the first series had: characters that are at least somewhat normal. Both Saki (and later, Sasahara) helped rein in some of the crazier characters, whereas Ogiue just doesn't seem to have that element to her character. I mean, I like the characters, but having someone a bit less...florid in their personality quirks might have helped. Still, the manga picked up in quality a few chapters in, after Shimoku started using Madarame more often, so...looking forward to continuing with this.

Hmm...genshiken so far has an overall ok story. Some of the characters are generic and others are interesting.
The references are to anime that I care about. But in the club room theres a console in the manga it looked like a Playstation
but it has Gamecube controller ports
