I saw this question in the Chat With the Crunchyroll Community Staff thread and I thought this was an interesting subject!

Given that this is convention season for the world of anime, we get to see all sorts of fans of this genre express their love for it! From cosplaying to memorabilia, everyone comes out and experiences it all in their own way in which they enjoy! It's very fun to watch!

But! It makes me wonder about the kind of fan people consider themselves! Everyone can be into something in their own way, not necessarily being expressive with things like cosplaying their favorite character. And this isn't limited to just anime, but for other things as well like music, comic books, and anything else that someone could be a fan of!!!

So, for instance, if you are into anime (as everyone on Crunchyroll probably is! :D) are you into cosplaying? Do you collect figurines and have a million of them in your room? What about music like J-Pop or K-Pop? Do you know all the chants and collect all the CDs and posters? Remember you don't have to do all these things just to be considered a fan!

Please share with everyone!

I like watching NBA basketball. I'm a fan of this type of entertainment to even watching most of the playoff games, but you won't see my donning a Kobe Bryant jersey or wearing Derrick Rose's shoes; though, I love reading articles on trade deals and achievements from these monolith players.

This is the same with Anime. I like Anime, but I don't own shelves and shelves of DVD; I don't even own any series DVDs. Though, I play around the online Anime community that almost borders to the ridiculous.

In short, I'm a fan- just not a physical tangible expressionist and overtly obtuse type of fan.

My collections are mostly anime themed games (such as the Atelier series) and manga.

I have some anime sure, I even have a hand full of figures. but other than my CD collection, which is about 70% soundtracks for anime and games, I'm more of a reader and I like to emerse into the world of a book.

Oh, I havn't been to a convention for years but I tend to cosplay when I do. When in rome after all.

I'm this kind of fan

Anyway
I would cosplay... If people around here would accept that, but I don't think that is an option xD
Well I would not consider me an "Fanatic" of anime, that word in particular is too heavy -.- But I would call me someone that is almost becoming an Otaku or is well on his way on becoming one

I'm mostly a huge Kpop fan. I have at least 20+ posters, 100+ CDs, merchandise, unofficial goods, went to concerts, etc. It's really consumed me considering that I've been a fan of this music for 6 years. I admit that I'm obsessive but not creepy, over-obsessive, or possessive of the artists I listen to. I like to give them the respect they deserve.
I guess you could say that I'm a dedicated and down-to-earth (i.e. not delusional) fan. I don't only like the music, but also the personalities of the artists behind the music. Everything is entertaining and it makes me happy.

I must say, ever since I start to first watch anime I've been obsessively watching it now for the past three years. I'll watch a full 26 ep series back to back in one day and start a second then finish that one too so I've blown through so many it's getting harder to find new anime's that i like. As far tangible products go, most of it never gets past its digitized world but I've been wanting to learn japanese because the language is so full of rhythm. But like I said, since most of the anime world stays on my computer a lot of people are surprised when i tell them I love anime and attend cons whenever I can. I don't cosplay though, don't look like any anime characters I've ever seen.

I am a window shopper. The only two fandoms I consider myself a devoted part of are heavy metal music and anime, the rest are just passing fancies that I flirt around with for a while before leaving them for the next interesting thing. I own almost no merchandise, save a few band T-shirts bought at concerts, and all of my media is stored in a massive collection on external hard drives. And, since I don't wear the T-shirts, I guess I don't express my fandom at all.

Hell, all things considered, I don't know if the word "fan" should apply to me. If something about anime changed that sucked the appeal out of it, I would stop watching. If a band I love releases a bad album, I won't buy it or listen to it. I'm a guy who enjoys things, but would stop paying attention to those things if for any reason he stopped enjoying them. I'm more of an enthusiast.

Call me Mr. Apathy.

I collect ACTION FIGURES but everything else I hide from people...other than my wife. I have strict military friends and family and they are less than supportive of my obsession. Even my figures are off in a corner of my house that no one ever sees.

I collect dvd's, but mostly into buying anime dvd's. I know it sounds cliche, but because it's so expensive to buy the dvd's, it motivates me to work so I can purchase more. So far, I've just hit the $1100 worth of anime mark, and if I add all my dvd's together, anime and non anime, I've got over $2000 worth of merchandise.

What do we got here. I'm also an NBA fan. It's a bonus that I'm currently living in miami and the Heat won two straight. I'm a person that mostly into the physical activity of it, and not just a guy who joins the bandwagon. I'm more curious learning how to make my game be more efficient. You wont see me donning expensive shoes. I'll do my best to earn your respect on the court even if I'm just wearing sandals.

Anyways, on anime, I do own a dvd collection of Slamdunk because it has transcending gags; and it gives me the inspiration again to why I play ball. I like to collect its manga volume because I'm an inspiring artist and a graphic designer. I like the author/artist impression on the characters and sport itself.

I mostly like funny stuff, and if its drawn really nice, I buy it for entertainment and future references.

Miami huh? Goodbye. "LAWL"

Well, I'm a Lakers fan, most probably the more hate franchises in NBA history, but I love watching other teams as well; it's entertainment you know, and you pay so that you can feel something for the team. I'm glad that Clippers are rising up right now because the Lakers won't be doing much until next season, even if they resign Dwight.

Actually haven't watched Slamdunk. I wanted to for a long time, but I haven't had a chance or keep forgetting.

Well, have fun with being a b-ball and Anime fan. "LAWL"
