Anime : I buy things I've watched on line and found them good enough to earn a physical copy.
Cosplay : I buy a cosplay once a year I only started 3 years ago but I'm too old for it now so ill just keep them as Halloween costumes.
Monster high dolls:...heh...I need to be stopped.
Video games:..again need to be stopped.

Anime: Since the world we live in has pretty much digital and me not being a collector, I find it hard to want to buy physical things for anime. I do plan to buy some blu-rays, however for some anime who i believe deserve it as i do wish to support the creators.

Watching and enjoying anime is my hobby. Just like collecting or cosplay is for them. I've never have been a collector but have recently been interested into collecting some posters and dvds/bluray for my favorite anime.

I'm the type of fan who feels pressured not to share their fandom with strangers, and doesn't show any outward signs of it. Of course, since I've got to do -something- with my excitement about the things I'm interested in, I end up gushing about stuff to my friends, in what I have to assume is a pretty bothersome manner.

What appeals to me about anime is the "storytelling" component. It's just like "video games", I wouldn't be into it if there was no storytelling.

As a child, I grew up on storytelling, it was so abundant around me. People around me would tell me ghost stories, fairy tales. On TV there would be stories, I read stories in books at school. My life revolved around storytelling.
In a way, I'm sort of like the Bronte sisters, I wrote stories to entertain myself and to kill time. No other form of entertainment could entertain me as much as storytelling.

To me, stories are way more interesting and captivating than real life. Anything could happen in stories, I meet new people when I'm creating my own stories and seeing my characters come to life is one of the most magical moments of a writer's life.

Basically that sums up why I'm an anime fan.

I don't collect figurines or do cosplaying, but I can appreciate people who do those things. They both look like fun and creative hobbies to me.

I'm (obviously) a huge anime fan like a lot of people here, though if I were any other kind of fan, I am also a huge Muv Luv fan. Collect a crap ton of Muv Luv stuff. Also have a small but growing anime collection as well.

Its like you have read my mind!

Still, I would add something. I totally accept that stories are way better than real life and being able to "give life" to the characters is a nice skill, however, there is something even more entertaining. And that is turning a "story" into the real life...

I'm intrigued, what do you mean by this...?

I'm guessing a play?

Well, I guess I'm not a completed "Otaku"

I still do not have a collection of figures and favourite manga&blue-rays; however, when I have enough money I am totally going to fix this. You know, like creating a "special" corner in the house for my favourite anime&manga stuff.

But doing cosplay seems just too much to me. Though I am planning to visit an anime festival for all the echi outfits that girls enjoy putting on

I'm a fan of anything as long as its good imo. I'm currently reading the PJO series cause my GF thinks its the most unappreciated book series ever, she claims that by the end i'll look on it as one of my most favorite stories ever. To be honest all she had to say was that it had the greek gods in it to get me interested .

I can confidently say that while I am an anime fan, I don't think my "degree" of interest in anime could be considered as "Otaku" level or whatever. I watch anime and I am passionate about it but not to the extent that it (for lack of a better word) hinders my social skills with my other friends and colleagues. I do recommend anime every now and then. Everyone needs anime every now and then hahaha.

No, not a play. I mean, you ought by this time to have a favourite story, right? The one that you revise and re-"live" from time to time.

So, why not to make that story real and just live it?

I buy the dvds/blurays, I sometimes get the osts!
I go to the comic cons, I even have an akatsuki cloak now for cosplaying!
I used to buy the manga, but they never seem to be on other anymore.
Still have my models from gundam wing.

Mostly now I watch, I play and write fanfiction!! Scary thing now is I watch some form of anime/manga once a day, 7 days a week.
