Hachiken has his plate full! No pun intended! He just accepted without objection. However his schoolmates / faculty put too much of a burden on him ! IMO

Anyone else think that aside from Mikage and that buff baseball player dude, everyone else is kind of a jerk to him?

I don't think they are treating him like jerks I think they view him as an outsider being a city boy and all

I dont think they were jerks to him some knew he was super busy.BTW a lot of people pitched in. But again Hachiken got too many tasks placed on him! Also he was the right person for the tasks assigned but too many at once.

I don't really see it as being jerks to him. I've worked in several volunteer organizations, and you will see people who will volunteer for everything and get overloaded. The teacher's should have been watching for this, and told him to backoff (and why he should).

Episode 5

Out of the friend-zone (sort of)! Hachiken, you are a shining light to men everywhere around the world!

And Hachiken also empathizes with potatoes... >.>

I was tense the whole episode, wondering when he was going to collapse and I thought he had got through it once they got to the day of the festival, but nope!

This episode reinforced my belief that this show needs the relationship drama mixed in to really shine. The last episode, which was mostly without it, felt a little flat to me. This one was good on the romance side, and also let us watch Hachiken push himself to the limit and break down. That's good for a learning experience, which is what this show should really be all about.

EDIT: And here's some Aki for y'all.

I'm a bit envious of Hachiken's determination and motivation to work hard. I kinda want that and want to change for the better even if it does get harder/more stressful. Although, I feel sorry for him in the next episode for overworking himself like that. I could probably see myself doing that if I had it in me to do so. It doesn't make it right but I really want to prove myself.

I enjoyed episode 4 and maybe a little bit more 5.

Glad that romance finally appears to be happening... assuming that collapse doesn't kill the chances of the date, sigh...

While I would completely approve of Aki doing that I want the date to happen, and more! Damned forced drama... It wasn't even raining! Just the work yourself too hard story... Ah well.

Ep. 6

What a jerk Hachiken's father is, telling him that the ag school is no place for him. But that's something for Hachiken to decide, so he needs to know his place. At least his mother understands him. And then there is the party over potato rejects, and that sprung a life lesson, that even rejects have their use in life. That's just a great episode, one where Hachiken faces his family again and does some soul searching after everything he went through to make the festival a success.

Man, I was really feeling Hachiken's absence there at the beginning.

Not gonna lie, I cried with Hachiken.

There were a ton of amazing moments in this episode, and Aki LEANED IN. But, ack, that's not what I want to talk about. The writing and directing this episode were stellar. Glad they brought it back in and made it a little happier there at the end, because the juxtaposition of Hachiken in the hospital and the festival going on at the same time was pretty depressing, as was pretty much the whole interaction with dad. It was serious and dramatic and touching.

This is what Silver Spoon is all about.

Oh, and hpulley, looks like we'll still get our date!!!! :DDDD

Another good episode. Man finally getting prolonged exposure to Hachiken's dad it is no wonder Hachiken's brother goes out of his way to piss him off. Dude is an ass. That being said Hachiken was unfairly harsh towards his mom this episode....

Sucks that Hachiken had to miss the entire festival after putting so much effort into it.

While I agree he is a jerk, I just think it is for different reasons (how he handles his kids in general). If I was a parent, and my kid collapsed from exhaustion at school, I would be having some serious words with school staff about appropriate work loads and supervision. But, I would also be talking to my kid about why he was exhausted and how he needs to say no sometimes.

I didn't cry, but that scene was putting me on the verge of crying.

And yeah the beginning of the episode felt weird without Hachiken. I actually thought for a moment that he wouldn't show up in the episode at all.
