Alright, so I'm starting to get curios about the genre and I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations on any good games? And maybe tell me what its strong points are and its weaknesses? like combat system, traveling, controls, whatever fits your fancy.

This topic is kinda nice but the only thing you're gonna get are repetitive answers

A couple I can think of RIGHT of the bat that you have to try at least once.

1) PSO2 - The cool thing about this game is that it's PSO2... The game hold LOADS of things and you have to play it. The game is pretty godly AND you don't have to have a good computer at ALL to pretty much make the game look amazing.

2) WoW - It's World of Warcraft. The game holds well over 300+ Hours, (same for all of these). You can play the free trial up to level 20 and you can start Player Vs Player at level 10 which I, personally, think is awesome. The game is very addicting for some reason for those that have never played it before so just a fore warning.

3) Guild Wars 2 - this game is the one i may recommend to you right off the bat. This game is holding itself so well and the majority of people that play it love the game... like loads. it's 40 dollars but it's WELL worth the money

4) Tera Rising - This is the last of the one i'd recommend trying. It's still kind of a new MMO and still has some kinks to work out and the low level cap of 60 is still very annoying. HOWEVER, the game is great and it's known for its graphics and for that, It made this list.

5) Vindictus - This is a game very similar to PSO2, you don't have to wonder around a large scale world for it to be fun. The combat system is crazy and you just have to check out some gameplay to see for yourself. The amount of character customization is very impressive, compared to Tera Rising at least, download it via Steam and check it out. It's worth the download.

All of these are FREE of course, but again, you're gonna get representative answers because the combat system for MMO's hasn't change for almost 8 years. Honestly, EXCEPT for Guild Wars 2. it's not similar to any other MMO.

Those are basically the only ones that are out there.... I mean others will say

) The Old Republic
)Defiance or....
) Final Fantasy or something.

Let me be the first to tell you... do NOT play Defiance. The game really is terrible and is struggling to stay profitable. In my opinion, not worth playing at ALL!!

Personally the 5 listed are like... the main that I play and that most of my friends play.

However, the new one that is coming out that caught my attention was Elder Scrolls Online. It's worth trying because Bethesda has YET to disappoint me, besides fallout:New vegas.

You can't. You have to download the japanese game and then once installed, you install the English patch xD

http://pso2.jp/players/download/ <-- Download the game
http://psumods.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=206 <-- English patch.

You'll also have to set up a SEGA ID... and good luck with that one. You're on your own lol

If you want a really good 2D sidescrolling game, try Maplestory. It's a really great game, there are tonnes of different classes with their own unique skills, lots of quests to do, lots of monsters to fight, its a really great game. There's a lot of people that play the game too so you probably wont get bored easily.

Personally, I suggest Runescape.

Pros:
-Free to play(P2P has 70% more content.)
-Good Graphics
-Can be ran on bad graphics on a Java client if your computer is bad, or high detail in java which looks decent, but not great.
-(Beta stages), can be played on an HTML5 client, for better computers with good graphic cards and processors, currently in beta, soon to hit live games.
-Fully customizable interfaces(Very confusing at first, but it's very awesome)
-The Development team cares.

-Amazing boss fights
-190 quests, 23 free to play
- many minigames\ distractions\diversions
-Large clan communities
-Fun combat system for Player vs Monster

Cons:
-Not so great combat system for Player Vs Player(that's majority opinion, personally I like it)
-Time consuming.

-Low-end community.

I think its time to give FFXIV online a chance. I am playing the beta on my PS3 right now and I gotta say I am impressed. The UI is well designed, easy to maneuver, the quests are fun and engaging. I love what they've done to up the graphics department. The most important of all, ITS FINAL FANTASY!
