I am not on the forum every day because I like to wait for people to reply to topics I post or after I reply to other peoples posts. The problem is that when I come back and search for my post by my user name... They don't show up in my search!

I will type my user name in the search box and I will only see 5 of my topic posts when I have posted 10+ that are still out there. Why do topics not show up when I search by user name? Then, some reply posts in other peoples topics won't even show unless someone quotes my name in a reply on a post.

Edit:
I can't even find this post right now when I search my user name!

Well this isn't like gaia, searching for your post through cr is probably as useless as searching for your post through google

When you tried searching, did you try to refresh the page? I know from personal experience that the search results can be slow at appearing properly, and for me it has helped refreshing the page 1-3 times.

Let me know if that worked. : )

Hopefully we'll see an improved search toggle before too long.

Hi!

Right now the search is a disaster. We're working on revamping the search engine and we'll be sure to include the ability to search up your own posts.

Thanks for your suggestion!

To find my recent post i use my browser history. I search "crunchyroll" in my browser history, then i go to the day i post they comment or what ever that i'm looking for. And BTW I did not know you can actually search your user name.

I can understand it takes time but it has been this way for years. When I have brought it up in the past, the mods either say they are too busy with other parts of the site or some simple no solution filler then lock the post. I have been on other advanced forums with features I feel are too much but all I want to do here is type in my name and see all the posts I have done. Is that so hard to add?

PS: The only reason I am able to find and reply to this post now is because a few of you quoted me.

It's a known issue by most mods I talked to, so refresh will not help this issue. I have heard excuses from " we have not added it yet" to "we don't want you to do that" and even things similar to "we are a video site and don't care about the forums".

Suggestions are good and I appreciate them but... have you actually tried? Type in my user ID and check the results yourself. Almost all the results are posts I have been quoted in, not the post I have started. I know I have well over 10 post out there I started and can't find more then 5 when I look.

Sure I could check my history but there is no history when I use another PC. I should not have to keep a paper log when I am not on the site every day then forgot a post topic name. Is it so bad to ask for complete results when doing a key word search?

Howdy!

So, Mods are not employees of the company. They do not have the power to make any changes to the search tool.
I'm working on the community aspect, however my main job is Customer Support.
We are looking at the Search Function and changing it / Improving it.

I also would like the search expanded to allow for your own posts... or if you want to manage/protect against creeps/stalking,
maybe have an search option like this as a button only visible from within your own profile when you're logged in.
As it is, some of these threads are so long ongoing, I find myself wondering "did I already put a response in there??"
which is ok to search for if it's only got say a few pages. But when I have to plow thru 30-40 pages+ in a thread......

yeah I too was trying to find where to view my posts or replies , search didn't work and most forums I have been on included a viewing option like that within your profile. It would be convenient is all.

Thanks for the reply. I almost lost this post too but thankfully you quoted me in it.

I can understand mods only being able to monitor/edit posts but I don't see a known chain of command structure. I was hoping the mods would take initiative and track down programers/admins for all of us to see if we can get this fixed/updated. It has been a known issue for years and there is a high public demand for a simple function that will increase site traffic and public appeal. It would help not only the users but the site itself.

I can understand the fear of big changes or how it costs money for programmers but there is TONS of free open source code out there. I would hope being a paying member would allow some of my money to go toward the website. I love watching anime but I love talking about titles, sharing interests with other fans, and meeting new friends more! No one wants a site where they forget or lose posts/replies almost instantly after posting.

I heard it mentioned that people think it might be a privacy issue to search posts by author so how about we just make it search your own posts? The "we are looking in to it" or "we are working on it" is a great reply but we have not seen change in years so all we can do is keep requesting it. It worked when we kept requesting a store! Let's get this change done for everyone! ^_^

Actually now that you mention it if you go to the link readily available at the bottom of every page on CR labeled Community Staff you will see a fairly clear command structure laid out right there. Specifically the link is under the "Support" heading.

At the bottom you have moderators, above that is customer support staff, then CR Staff, and lastly our glorious administration leader Shinji and his pet CRBot.

You are right this has been a feature many users, and even staff, have wanted on CR. However please understand that there is always something new down the pipeline and CR is a online steaming service, it's first and foremost responsibility is to provide that streaming content in as bug free and easily accessible way as possible. So with that said the primary concerns will always be new streaming services (PS4, Xbox One), acquisition of new shows, and bug fixing of what already exists. Adding new features not directly related to streaming will always take a back seat, but again, know this is a feature users want and it will be looked at. It just is not a top priority at this time.

Thanks for using CR and have a great day!

Thanks, it was hard to locate and it blends in so it's very easy to miss. They have full inboxes so it's hard to contact them. I was hoping the mod could pass on messages or have a different non-public contact method for the upper ups.

I appreciate the "we are working on it" response and we'd have no issues giving programmers lots of time but that helps us if we see progress. To us, that has been the response for years and not even a drop of hope has been give to us. It gets harder to hear that after so long and no progress.

I totally understand the "we have better things to focus on" response but it seems to give off the feeling of... we don't care right now, even if that is not want you mean. Why should doing something new have to make CR rob Peter to pay Paul?

Instead of putting so much work on the video programmers shoulders to do the video and web management... how about making a staff group to focus on just the website/forum/store/news and leave the video/streaming programming staff to focus on the more important video side of the site and hardware. That way nothing goes on the back burner and we don't get large delays on updates/features.

I don't want to hassle anyone or have to keep bring this up constantly but view this as a user. We are not asking for a new silly icon face or something stupid, we are asking for a feature that will bring more traffic, money, and growth to the site. The more people come here and return to chat the more traffic and viewers.

If a new user goes away a few days and comes back just to start new because all their posts have been lost, it's a big turn off to staying active or wanting to return to the forum. Sure videos bring in the people but the forum helps expand the site and keeps people active on it. Activity = Money!

Please don't take this in any negative way, I want nothing but the site to get better
and sure others that have shown interest want more too. Anyone can say "we are working on it" but a great response would be "we are working on and hope to be adding it in 1/3/6/12 months". Ya know, something not giving us the feeling of... leave us alone or just go watch something.
