The problem with giving time frames is if something more urgent pops up, and you fall behind on another upgrade (Streaming is main focus, always), then people get pissed about it. So really it's better to leave it at just "We're working on it". Also, chances are the mods you've spoken to have passed it along. I know I pass along every concern people bring up. I'll message Baker or Starry, and they'll tell the engineers. It doesn't mean it gets done right away, it's ordered based on priority. And as all the others have said, the priority as of this moment is smoothing out the streams, and ensuring the apps work properly. So, the search function gets a back seat at the moment. I'm glad you're sticking with us though and are giving feedback.

Thanks for passing this on but I hope it does not fall on deaf ears at the top.

The "we are a video site first" reasoning is very important and true. So important that CR should change the work load for the video programmer(s) so they don't get distracted with other parts of the site. How about dedicating current programer(s) to just the streaming/apps/hardware so the important is covered then gather a 2nd programmer(s) to handle just the website/store/news/etc? Video programmer(s) stay on video not worrying about website improvements and projects get done faster.

One programmer or small group doing the all the video/hardware/apps/website/etc is putting all your eggs in one basket. Share the load! I love the site and programmers but don't want them over worked to the point were things don't get done or get pushed back.

True there will be delays and "working on it " is a more then valid response until it's used for years. If you give the people an idea of what they are looking forward to, it helps and they move on til later when they expect it. If it gets delayed, it gets delayed so announce a new ETA but don't leave people in the dark. People don't like delays but we accept it.

I'm not sure about others, but I'd rather hear that an update example like "it should be out within 6-8 months" and then "there was a delay for another 2-3 months so we can get it working perfect" other then no update for years. You will always get people upset about push backs but reassure them it's for the best then drop an estimated time frame.

Here is one real example:

June 2012: Shinji announces Vita app release for late 2012
Dec 2012: No release, no Vita updates or delay news
June 2013: Apple TV app goes live with no Vita update or delay news
July 2013: Officially Announced Vita app like it's new news, No ETA

So Announced a year ago, expected 7 months ago and just announced again. People don't expect much just a little something. You can be loose too with saying Summer/Fall 2013 or even saying... some time next year. You will see more people loose the hype or forget about it when left in the dark. I hate to wait on this example but I'd be fine with "give us a few more months" vs "working on it" and left to stare at the calender.

Thanks, it was hard to locate and it blends in so it's very easy to miss. They have full inboxes so it's hard to contact them. I was hoping the mod could pass on messages or have a different non-public contact method for the upper ups.

Well there is a link further down under the support heading labeled "contact us" as well which will result in an email to the support staff. That said it isn't necessary in this case as a few posts up you see a post by Bjaker who is in fact the head of CR Customer Support. So the higher ups are already well aware of your concerns and they do take them seriously.

Like I said, this is an issue many users have mentioned and even some Staff would like to see added to the site. Giving a hard and fast date though would be a disservice to users because there is no way something like that can be realistically promised. Like any good business CR has a list of priorities and concerns, there also always unexpected issues like a site bug or a stream plays incorrectly. Not to mention that sometimes adding in a new feature can have unexpected results with old features, you can't just copy paste code it doesn't work that way.

Your concern clearly is not being ignored or you would not have responses. Least of all from the head of support himself even if it was a short and concise reply. In the interests of transparency you will just have to understand that there are many many many things being worked on with CR all the time and that your concern is on the list. It just isn't a top priority at this time and as a result CR can't make a promise about when the feature will be added, only that eventually it will be.

That really is the best, and most truthful, answer your are going to get.

Thanks but I'm sure the "contact us" just goes to customer support who already read this post so that would be of little difference because customer support already replied.

I am not saying we are being ignored but it seems to be everyone repeating "the programmer(s) have more important things to do" then "we will look in to it". I have never had a problem with that response... except it has been used for years with no attention. It sounds like the site programmer is over loaded or if there is a group of programers that they are too small to look in to other issues. The video portion of the site is the most important so any task will dwarf in comparison but... why not take the load off the video programmer(s) and get a new person(s) to help with small tasks that need attention?

If my car breaks down I don't demand the car builders stop making cars and fix mine, I go to the mechanic group and they fix it. If someone is going to the video side and making programmers stop working on video content to run other parts of the site, there might be a benefit from staff additions. Is that not logical?

If the users of the forums want the feature bad enough that they are willing to pay the wage of an additional programmer to do it I am sure CR would be more than happy to hire one more person. At this time though fiscal responsibility dictates what they can afford to do and another programmer isn't in the budget.

I'm a full paying member so I'm doing my part. CR can't be hurting that much that they can't grow a little. Are they? Sure titles are expensive to license but how about dropping a bad title or passing on a high risk one to generate income?

LOL! Like people were suppose to know that search string? Admins/Mods don't even know that or don't like to suggest it.

Now the question: If it's that easy, would it be easy to add the function to the site... or should we always depend on 3rd parties?

Making a post and being unable to search for it is not a personal convenience. Being forced off the site to find our posts is still a problem that could use attention.
