Hey all,

I've always been into Anime, but never more so than the past 18 months. I've always toyed with the idea of going to something like an anime/comic convention but never really gotten round to doing it.

So my question is, Can you ever be too old to go to one? What age groups primarily attend such events and is there certain conventions a first timer should stay clear of?

I currently reside in the UK, so my questions are mainly aimed at those who have experience at UK events but any other advice would be most welcome.

Thanks all

American Con-goer reporting in!
Anyways, while I can't answer to UK cons specifically, I can say this, age ranges vary in the US (and probabaly UK as well), A LOT. You'll see lots of groups of people ranging in ages 12-45.
It mostly depends on the size of the convention. Smaller conventions have a lot of the younger crowds since they can go to it since it'll be local to them. The largest cons get the local crowds, as well as people who are willing to travel hundreds (or thousands) of miles to go. And at those I've noticed the 20 and 30 year olds definitely outweigh any other age brackets.

We have a livestream of the largest convention in the US going on right now (when I'm posting), it's the last day however and most people skip the last day. But just to get an idea : http://www.crunchyroll.com/live?id=45

Thanks for the swift reply Miki,

I'll go ahead and take a look at that stream! Also, would you say that the cons are something that one could attend alone and still have a enjoyable time?

Honestly, that depends on the convention. Super small ones I found I personally need to be with friends to enjoy. Medium or Large ones have so much stuff you can do that it doesn't matter, you can enjoy it solo, or with twenty people. At the large ones especially you'll meet new friends if you do end up soloing.

I've always wanted to go to a con myself but I haven't made the time for one yet. I'm planning on going to my first anime convention next year, Anime Boston. I'm super excited, what should I expect?
