First dojo I went to was for Aikido, but left the school due to not liking the style. I felt that it was too technical and didn't like the fact that you're not supposed to ever start an offense, but wait for an opponent to attack. I'm not saying the style is bad, in case someone misinterprets me, it just wasn't my thing, and I'm not that kind of fighter. I will say that Aikido has great footwork though. I attend the club at my school now from time to time, but only to learn the footwork, not the techniques.

Currently I'm a freshman in college and take Brazilian Jiu-Jutsu, a bit of martial arts from the ROTC (unfortunately we have not fully delved into that yet) and, my main art, Chung do mu sool won.

On a sort of side note, I have a question about JKD. People give different answers and I don't know what is right or wrong, but some of you guys seem to know what you're talking about, so I think it's safe to ask here.
Is JKD a style or "philosophy of fighting"? (and can't remember the phrase the man used to describe it)

You practice judo and you're in Brooklyn? Would you happen to know someone called Ashawn, who is also a judo practitioner?

I did taekwondo for a year and then kind of dropped out because I had to change cities. I'm going to start again from next semester. But my master back home was so good and he taught a lot of additional things that weren't under WTF, so now it's difficult for me to find someone like him whom I can accept in that manner.

Could always try another martial art. After all, TKD is not the only one that exists, nor the most effective for defending yourself or anything.
