manual is fun at times, but it gets kinda annoying for me after a while. Like in days im not into driving, i hate having to shift. =_=

i drive auto for now. mahahaha i made my bro switch car with me. what sucks is that the car i use now uses up hella gas. :[

If I had a big soft ride, a luxury car such as... say, a high-end Benz or Beemer, then the choice for an automatic would be clear. However, I drive a lowly beat-up Hyundai, and for me it would be more fun to have a manual to fiddle around with so my ride experience wouldn't be so droll.

In a world where gas is expensive, manual definitely.

But it's just so tempting to go with convenience, so automatic. : p

well, from point A to point B, I'd drive automatic cuz its much easier.
But for some fun on the road..it'll have to be stick shift.

I own two vehicles. One is a 1994 Saab 900s convertible with a manual transmission and the other is a 1997 Toyota Camry LE 4cyl with an automatic transmission. Do I prefer to drive the Saab? Yes, as a convertible it is more fun and with the manual transmission I have more control over it, especially since I can drive stick well. However, most of the time I drive the Camry because it is more fuel efficient (better aerodynamics combined with lower weight will tend to do that for you) and because in city traffic it is just easier to have automatic. As for handling, I can out drive most people because I know how to make my cars do what I want and I know their limits. I know can turn overdrive on and off if need be to quicken the Camry's response time, or shift down two gears for extra power with the Saab. I just choose the appropriate car for what I'm doing. Same goes for transmissions. Choose the transmission appropriate for your driving and life styles. If you're taking a car to the track, manual may be better. However, a super quick shifting automated manual maybe best. Depends...

stick ftw.

in exchange for a week of learning and about a month of practice u get............

better fuel economy
higher top speed
faster acceleration
better sound
cheaper car
easier (and cheaper) to maintain and repair
less depreciation
lighter
more reliable
useful in "sticky" situations
more control over your car

which adds up to..................$$$$$$$$$$$$

1. Not anymore...
2. People act as if Automatic transmission cars can't red line. Given a 5 speed manual, and a 5 speed automatic, both would go the same speed because both will have maxed out its gear ratios at the same time.
3.Sound...? What...?
4. Cost of clutch replacement > cost of tranny flush. The only way the cost of owning an automatic will exceed that of a manual is if one never maintains it and it needs to be overhauled...but then...thats driver error, not the car, or the transmission.

How did you step on the emergency brake? haha

From THE GIRL... teehee ^^

There are actually some cars that have an emergency brake lever that you press down with your foot. My friend drives a P.O.S. Chevy Impala, and it has the emergency brake lever. Yeah, I was pretty "wow"-ed by it because it was the first time I'd seen that sort of thing. Ahahah.
