... In recent memory, Mission 20 Vergil from Devil May Cry 3 (no items). Tried this guy so many times my first time through the game - Stinger travels far and comes out fast as lightning, he can Hulk up and regenerate health at the same time, Rapid Slash can be hard to see coming, then he parries your attacks and stuffs them in your face when you get going.

Then, when SE is released, you come back after a few years and S-Rank the same mission on your first try with Vergil. Amazing how hard he was for me when I first fought him, but when you learn the fight, you can take him to town as long as you stay focused.

Those bosses who derive difficulty from one-shotting you are beneath my mention.

Devil May Cry, when you fight Neo Angelo... first fight. Dante was so under powered that I kept getting my ass handed to me so many times I had to use an exploit. What I did was fight Phatom (the spider boss) just before him over and over and over and save the game then quit. That way it saves all the orbs you collect yet resets the checkpoint to let you fight Phantom again when you load the game.

I had Dante fully upgraded as much as possible by doing that then fought Neo-Angelo and won. I know I had to exploit the game but damn it felt good to go all out on that pain in the ass with a ton of special moves.

Omega weapon in final fantasy 8. You cannot win this fight without some degree of luck do to his attack style and damage output. If he attacks the right people at the right times, the fight will be over quickly. If you get lucky long enough with him attacking all the wrong people you might win. The main problem is his megiddo flame directly after using meteor which inflicts 9,998 damage to all members with a maximum hp of 9,999. Meaning unless you've healed everyone to full or have invincible on some or all your party, you're screwed. A lot of this fight relies on having invincible up thanks to Rinoa or surviving it by letting a GF take the hit. The boss has over 1,000,000 HP and the maximum damage you can do per hit is 9,999 and you won't cap that unless you are using limit breaks or %hp attacks. Limitbreaks are the key to winning this fight, especially zell's and rinoas. Even then, like stated... Luck is a factor.

Col. Radec on Killzone 2. Not really hard, but long and annoying and the NPC that's with you does nothing.

Henry Cooldown from No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise in Bitter (Hard) mode. Motion controls make it tiring.

Cant remember the guys name but some dude on Metal Gear Solid.... I mean seriously, you can only beat him by plugging the controller into port 2... The game designer must have been wearing a full blown gimp costume whilst writing the code with the blood stained tip of a horse whip... Sadist bast*&^$...

You mean Psycho Mantis, that dude was a trip. Once you did plug in a second controller though he's cake. I wonder if that trick still exists for the Metal Gear Solid HD collection? Haven't played that game on PS 1 in ages.

Metal Gear Solid is not included in the HD collection. You may be thinking of the Legacy Collection

Fable one: final boss it took me a long time to master a combo i could use. I was stuck on him for days, then days turned to weeks, so i put the controller down and played other games, until like 6 month o 1 year later o picked it up again. Thats when i learn the combo to use.
