Zipzo here 。。。

How do you decide what to watch and when?

I've been organizing and setting up my queue with all the new shows I want to try, but I was also tipped off to a couple series that after watching the first episode of each...I really want to go through them.

This season there is so many new ones that earned a spot on my queue, at least off the bat. Unable to say which ones I may drop, if any, but I feel buried! Watching anime takes time and I want to get to all of it, it's so hard to pace yourself when there's so much to watch!

How do you organize your viewing habits? Do you have a specific order of operations or do you just watch whatever you feel like?

I quite literally watch whatever I'm in the mood for.
If I'm just having a normal day, it might be anything.
If my mood isn't at its best I may watch some comedy.
Etc etc. :p

What I do is that when simulcast starts, I watch a series as they come out. If the series I watch isn't up to my liking as I thought, I drop it from my list.

I've queued most of the new shows and I'll watch new episodes as they come out(usually Sat-Mon) and watch the older shows I'm in the mood for in between. I think I've gotten a good flow.

Most of the time I set up my queue with all of the ones I want to watch and deal with them in order. If I keep skipping between all the shows I sometimes lose track of what happened previously so I will watch all the way until I'm caught up with one show then watch the next.

As MikiSayaka said, "I quite literally watch whatever I'm in the mood for." except I would just watch them show by show and not episodes all over the place. (Assuming the show doesn't have 100+ episodes)

I try to have an order...try being the main word here. I watch all the simulcasts (but it's not too many, maybe 4 or 5 at the moment), and I have a long queue of shows that I plan to watch. I would start one get to around 5 episodes then I hear something good about another show, so I watch that one for a couple episodes, sometimes I get sucked in and watch all the way but I usually start a bunch at once...it's a terrible habit. So far I have like 10 shows I'm watching now, and about 10 more on hold. It's not that I have a short attention span, it's just that I have too many things I want to watch so everything ends up being half watched and slowly finished as time goes on.
SO...long story short, I don't organize my anime viewing in any productive way.

I've watched most of the Crunchyroll catalog that suits my interests already. No need to keep anything I've already watched in my queue then, which means I basically just have to organize the simulcasts that I'm watching. For that I pretty much go most to least favorite. I don't watch everything that airs because not all genres interest me, so it isn't a very long list. Pretty manageable.

I also use Anime-planet to keep track of what I'm currently watching and on about a weekly basis I will check off episodes I've seen. I used to write my anime master list down in a word document, but it's gotten too big now so having a list on a website like that is a lot more convenient for me. I get the feeling that more people prefer using MAL for this than Anime-planet. But I don't really like their layout quite as well.

I plan nothing so I can plan everything.

The only thing that effects what I watch and when I watch is my mood. Sometimes I like some fluff, other times comedy action, and other times when I want to see limbs and guts flying. I watch a broad range of genre, so that's usually never an issue. But I do like fluff and comedy series first just as a relaxer for rough days.

So I just add what interest me to my list and work on dwindling them down from there. Some series don't even make it on the watch list because they pull high priority. That's usually when I marathon something in one go.

Current anime usually comes first, though. I like to keep up with it so I have free time for older stuff.

I watch simulcasts as they come out. I rewatch series as I get the discs when I buy them or whenever I feel like it. Pretty simple! But I really should be reading more...

Well, I don't organise it "physically" like most people do, i.e. put stuffs on queue. My queue is in my head, lol. I remember what I'm supposed to watch each week, Friday - Naruto, Sunday - Hunter x Hunter etc.

I haven't started the Summer animes yet, because CR released Kaiji the other day, and it piqued my interests because it is a completed series with 2 seasons. I love long series.
So I am watching Kaiji at the moment along with weekly stuffs like HxH.

After I am finished with Kaiji, I will start on the Summer series that sound/look most interesting to me, I have my eye on Makai Ouji: Devils and Realist...

Basically, that's my pattern.

I watch simulcasts around the time they air/come on CR. For my backlog of DVDs/Blurays I have, I mostly pick out all the shorter series' first, then basically randomly choose where to start if I'm not feeling like any certain genre. For series' on CR or FUNimation, it's a bit more spontaneous. I may randomly get the urge to start one series or another, then put that one on priority for the next few mornings/evenings.

*chuckles*

I look at discussions here to see which shows get trashed by the largest numbers of people, then go watch those.
