With this episode, I have formulated a theory of how this series is going to end. Of course I'm smart enough to know that with a chaotic element like Hajime involved, my theory doesn't mean much.

I think it is funny people say Hajime lacks urgency, in the seen with Berg, there is no point in being mad or attacking blindly which her character wouldn't, people just don't like to see the MC not be in all the action scenes.

I think that part of the reason is that people can't help but think of it as a straight up action/adventure show, and it's actually a different kind of deal at heart.

I'm saying that I see her getting a perspective change at some point in the show in the form of an ass-whip. Not something that will change her personality or make her a different character, but rarely ever do main characters just remain static from episode 1 to the end. There has to be room for growth somewhere.

Whether she knows what she's doing or not still doesn't change the fact that she irritatingly lacks a sense of urgency.

Last week I would have more aggreed with you, at least that she was going to get the crap kicked out of her.

After the ugliness this week though, I think it's going to be a more 'peace love and understanding' thing. Everyone that even thinks of fighting Katze gets utterly utterly demolished, to the degree it ends up feeling to me that a point is being made.

Violence and a straight up fight is NOT the answer to this one, and that's the point of Hajime as the main character.

Hajime likes to solve problems through understanding. I've always said, "the definition of true peace is understanding."

as long as both parties are willing to listen and understand, then work can be made and done w/o violence.

-edit-

this Episode knocked me outta my seat! for me, this show just gets better and better every episode.

Yeah, the show is kind of a deconstruction of superhero tropes. In a normal show Asane, the guy with the sword, would have been the main character, Rui would have been the well-meaning puppet of the bad guy and Hajime would have been the goofy romantic interest who always gets captured so the big brave hero can save her. Things would be solved by defeating the enemy boss and the show would end in a duel.

But in this series Hajime is the main character. And punching things is shown to be a terrible way to solve problems. I don't think there's been a single instance where fighting was the answer. Swinging a sword doesn't prevent mass food poisoning or help people trapped in tunnels.

There's been pretty cool fighting, and I expect more, but that's not how they'll save the planet.

When I look at how Hajime dealt with Berg-Katze, I see a girl see her partner rush to give medical help to the wounded, then I see her catch the attention of the monster who's basically trashed her team. She keeps Katze talking: a Katze who is busy talking is not busy killing. And she extracts as much information as she can in the process, trying to understand what makes it tick. By talking and engaging she stops the escalation of violence and Berg-Katze ends up leaving.

And it's not like Hajime was oblivious, the whole experience left her shaken and drained. Good thing Utsutsu was there...

I totally agree with this. Hajime is a very subtle character, despite her flamboyance.

This was a somewhat brutal episode, in comparison to what came before. I think The Hundred that showed up to the battle are either dead or comatose. We might not know until next episode. Rui was very severely beaten. Jou was nearly killed. Thank goodness for Utsutsu.

For fans of the original: this feels very much like a prequel to me. It's a more fully developed origin story. At this point, we still don't know who Katze Berg is and how he's related to OD--I think they are from the same planet and were teammates. And we've not seen our team transformed together, or combined. I think the key will be Rui, X, and the Gatchamen all working together.

Yeah, this show is a lot smarter than people are giving it credit for. In this episode alone, we saw the revenge battle, which usually goes in the direction of the person who got beat the first time, end with Jou at the brink of death, we saw Sugune get trashed before he even transforms and we saw the leader of the group RUN AWAY from a battle where the lives of his team were at stake.
