For me, i guess after watching so many anime's and having at least 1 extreme reaction after all of them. Say if i were watching the last episode of bleach even though i just read the manga i jumped up and said "HOLY ****" after seeing the new bankai form and all though. Even if its a sad anime like Clannad but i only shed one tear after thinking Yushio really died in the second season. I attempted to draw alot of anime, dub my own favorite anime's at home just for fun (Like all the abridged series on youtube), put up huge wall scrolls of anime characters in my house, buy alot of manga/hentai, and everything a basic otaku like me can do. I also think about joining those big company's where they subtitle anime. I think thats another way to learn japanese, but i have been into it for a good 6 years now. As far as my otaku friends, they're level 9000 when it comes down to know all the series im still growing lol.

Thats my story o.o

It all started back in highschool. I was a sophomore at the time and one of my friends wanted me to come over to her house for a sleepover. When I entered her room it was like an anime heaven. I fell in love with her stuff and she saw how much I was interested into it. So we stayed up all night eating pizza, watched an anime about vampires ( don't remember the name), watched the second Inuyasha movie, and talked about anime. After that night I began to start reading manga, watching anime online and went to my first Anime con in 2007. Animazement changed my life and it has been 7 wonderful years of my otakuness!

I have also began to work for a group in the dealers room at Animazement and learn the trade. Every year I go I feel like I belong and can me myself, talk about anime, manga, ect. I hope to one day own my very own "Chibi Japan" store.

My little brother was reading a manga called Naruto and I decided to try one. I didn't read the first book but I did read the second book and 5th book. I instantly liked it. This wasn't the first time he tried to get me to read it, it took him three tries. After that in my 5th grade class(I'm starting 10th grade in September) I noticed all the boys were obsessed with the series and I knew I liked it too so I started trading volumes with them and we had fun reading naruto together, I was the only girl in the class reading it. I then told them about this website called mangafox and we all started reading Naruto there. In 6th grade I tried different manga and then from then on I became an otaku. I'm way more obssed with Naruto than my brother(he is starting 8th grade in September). It's almost 5 years since I started to like Naruto, amazing!

Hell Yeah lol!!! I have been watching anime as long as I could remember just didn't know that it wasn't American. Until I was around 10. I really got into it when I finally got decent internet and started watching anime online about 5 years ago. Back then I spent entire days watching anime lmao.

My cousins were into anime and video games. They helped me realize that it there is nothing weird about liking anime and things related to it. Their family are still the ones I like the most outside of my house even though I rarely see them lol.

My mom always gives me the "stop watching cartoons" talk. =_= But I still love watching anime anyways

For me it was this slow decent into otaku-ism that I didn't even realize until it was too late. I had a friend over and he asked "whats with all the gay-anime shit latly?"
Then I told him to "GTFO don't insult my waifus like that."

Yeah I had that talk with some of my close friends who don't watch it and another one of my cousins(I have a lot of cousins lol). I explained how deep some of them can be to my friend... he just slowly started to shut up lmao.

My best friend is like that, I introduced him into anime. After a while I didn't hear from him for 2-3 months lol.

When i was like 6 i was obsessed with pokemon, if you count that as anime, and inuyasha. Then i lost touch with my otaku side for a long time until i was in middle school and started watching Fushigi Yuugi and fell in love with anime all over again. Sadly it took me until highschool to find all the other otakus hiding in the shadows so i hid my love for it until i found them and now life is peachy and i'm slowly infecting all my friends with it :3
