if you don't like Naruto or One Piece, don't watch. You can hate on those shows but at the end of the day, the Big 3 are what keep Anime alive in America. Those are the shows that people watch LEGALLY and purchase the most merchandise from. The community is gonna need a show to step up and fill that void.

I have asked others about this as well and the majority of reply's I got was Hunter x Hunter which I have just recently started checking it out. Bleach is kinda like Inuyasha to me. I would consider Inuyasha' One Piece and Naruto as the original Big 3 (think Boston Celtics). I think Dragonball was to soon maybe like showtime Lakers, Birds Celtics, or even Jordans Bulls to have the label Big 3? When Inuyasha went on a hiatus Bleach stepped in (formed Miami Big 3). Though I think Bleach will continue it's trend and come back after the manga wraps up. I would have to say personally I thought Fairy Tail stepped up to fill the void of Bleach though it didn't meet the criteria of being in a Shonen Jump publication. But considering that and the fact it got axed I would have to say Hunter x Hunter is it now.

It is really between Hunter x Hunter and Toriko. Yes there are other great anime and some of them may very well have sells above them, but another criteria for a Big 3 would be having an ongoing anime series I think. And there are not many in that vein. Toriko is good, but there is something about the context with hunting food. I mean yes anime in general has some weird themes, but I think that kinda turns some off. Plus Hunter x Hunter has the pedigree, but that's just my opinion.

.

This is what i have been telling my friends, who think Bleach is too long gone to ever come back. Inuyasha was on hiatus/"ended" for years, and then they brought it back years later to tell the final arc in Inuyasha: the Final act. They'll do something similar for Bleach.

I know it's not popular at a high standard at the moment, but HxH deserves the most recognition out of these action animes.

It's too bad people are overlooking this great series, I don't mean people on CR, I mean in Japan and worldwide.

It's pretty popular in Japan. Not as popular as One Piece, nothing is. But it matches Naruto and easily outdoes Bleach.

Worldwide? Once someone dubs it and puts it to air I'm sure people would eat it up.

2013 has been quite a busy year for Hunter X Hunter actually. Knocking One Piece out of the #1 spot and topping the Japanese box office and beating out Toriko in the ratings battle one week even. If that isn't Big 3 behavior I don't know what is.

That's some impressive stats.

HxH will probably replace Bleach as the Big 3 if the dubs are released then.

Its not the food theme its just the fact that the story doesn't really have a main plot. If somebody asked me to summarise it I would say "About people hunting for food." Its not like One Piece where I would say "Its about Luffy and his crew looking for the One Piece."

(I'm not sure if One Piece does this but yet again it is the only anime out of the big 3 to be animated by Toei and not Studio Pierrot)

One Piece has fillers but they only span 10 episodes max.
It doesn't have what you call a very long "filler arc" that spans 30+
episodes like Bleach did. One Piece (anime) is pretty much 95% manga.

In doing so, though; the episodes crawl along so slowly.
The problem is with long running shounen series, you ether have terrible pacing but true to the original, or good pacing and tons of fillers.

Hunter x Hunter imo won't ever get the title of a "Big" manga until it gets rid of its Hiatus x Hiatus tagline, no matter how entertaining it is

Bleach is coming back and it didn't get canceled just went on break because the manga was too close to the anime whoever lied and said it got canceled because of popularity should check their sources. But I don't believe in big three i just believe we should get more anime like attack on titan and sao to become long running like naruto bleach and one piece. So tired of seeing my favorite shows stop at 12 or 26 eps
but see detective conan have almost 700 thats just crazy.

Bleach is still a money printer for TV Tokyo and Jump. It will probably get the Inuyasha treatment. Why Bleach has suffered a fall from grace is beyond me as I never watched it for a long period. I just get what my friends and co-workers decide to shove down my throat. But I suspect it has to do with competition and fatigue. In my opinion it was aimed at older teens from the get go. A lot of fans in Japan probably simply outgrew the series or focused their attention more mature but fringe series like Claymore or AoT (before it absolutely blew up). But at any rate it can't be overlooked, it's not what it once was. Best selling Bleach manga of last year sold 750K vs. HxH's 1.1M, Naruto's 1.3M and One Piece's 3.3M.

Sorry for the doubled post, but with Bleach manga ending there really needs to be a series that takes its spot.

I've always tried watching the big 3 everyone talks about but I only make it like 10 episodes into any of them and get so bored...
