Please read :

While this is a topic important to a lot of people, please keep in mind it is a controversial topic.
ANYBODY flame baiting, or posting offensive / racist comments will have consequences.
Please keep this in mind before you post.

If you're unsure if something is offensive, then it's probably something you should reword.

Zimmerman, and he also did it because he had a gun.

Well you and me both know about the recent killings here in Baltimore even with that new police commish that our so-called mayor put into office can't control. Common sense solutions would prevent this, but I did say we have a so-called mayor.

^ what squirrel3d said I'm bad at quoting stuff on here for some reason

I feel you Baltimore's mayor is a joke, they do an anti violence walk then that night a few streets down 4 people get shot. A new police comissioner brings more violence. If they just put patrols at places prone to shootings all the time instead of when after someone is murdered it would definitely cut down on the violence. I live in AA county but go to Bmore every week to see a game, Lexington Market, or to just walk around. I feel safe downtown but elsewhere it's iffy. She is so-called, charging like 10 cents on a bottle tax and she seems to always be under investigation for something!

Anyone who wants to post in here, should take a moment and read the evidence, do a little bit of research yourself. Please, do not make up your mind by what the media puts out. Let me say this, can anyone answer this. Why does every media outlet only shows pictures of Mr. Martin that are 4 years old. Why hasn't anyone in the media or his defense, or anyone who advocates for Mr. Martin show a picture of who he actually was......

I am not taking sides, but I really think we need to know the facts before we speak.

This should have not gone to trial. It really is sad.

Either way, the reason I love the justice system ( or did at least ) is that no matter what kind of person you were or what you did in the past, the trial is about that moment . Even if he did get into fights and smoke weed all the time he didn't assault zimmerman and zimmerman shot him, thats the simplicity of it. The jury's crazy.

To be perfectly honest, it is NOT about what you feel personally. The prosecution had the responsibility to prove beyond a shadow of doubt that GZ guilty of murder and they did not. You cannot really be mad at the jury for coming to their conclusion based solely off the information they were given, which is exactly what you're suppose to do as a jury member. If you can tell me that you can objectively come to the conclusion of guilty based on the information that was presented, I would like to hear form you!!

The only crime that was committed during the entire incident was Travon Martin attacking George Zimmerman. And when you try to inflict damage to a person's cranium (Travon Martin slamming George Zimmerman's head into the ground definitely qualifies), you are attempting to inflict potentially lethal harm, and your victim is fully justified in using lethal force to protect himself. There is no evidence whatsoever that George Zimmerman committed any crime prior to being assaulted by Travon Martin. Therefore, George Zimmerman was justified in using lethal force to protect himself.

I am mostly just unhappy with the jury for not continuing to ask questions that they had about the manslaughter charges. They asked for clarification regarding the instructions for manslaughter but instead were told to ask a more specific question. They never did. It will always make me wonder if they fully understood the manslaughter charges and if their decision would have changed had they asked more questions about it since they seemed confused by some aspect of it.

Most evidence supported Zimmermans side and the whole screaming for help thing was on Zimmermans side as well since Martins side couldn't find reasonable evidence and tried to contradict the police with it, but didn't work. In the end it seemed pretty fair to me, people on here who keep saying justice in America is f*cked up is just ridiculous. In Zimmermans point of view he got justice, though if Martin won the case their family would see to it as fair justice. Courts not playing favorites here guys, just serving justice in the court of law with where the evidence is leaning too.

Of course you can pull a gun from that position, he used a sub compact 9mm, which you can easily hide in your coat pocket or even in a shoulder holster if he had one and there are many shirts that have pockets designed to hold a sub compact pistol and besides if you're really struggling, you're definitely not gonna stay in that position all the time, and your logic suggests that the gun told him to shoot the kid, lol. But that's not the point I'm trying to make. It doesn't matter if he didn't listen to what police said, he was assaulted, and for what? Following a suspicious character? That's not really a valid reason to beat the living daylights out of someone.. Trayvon was the aggressor especially if he actually was attacking Zimmerman, when Zimmerman did nothing but follow/approach the kid. It's a mess, and nobody really wins in these situations. But I can't be for sure because I wasn't there, but I feel Trayvon was in the wrong.
