WEll, my parents are both gone and I got a bit of a late start as an anime fan. My wife basically considers them soap operas. LOL Though I told her some of the outline of Madoka and she was impressed that somebody actually wrote a story with that much of a twisted worldview.

My dad along with Toonami is probably the reason I'm into anime. He's definitely the source of my older anime recommendations, like Akira and Evangelion and Fist of the North Star.

On the other hand, my mom saw me watching Lucky Star and thought I was watching Sailor Moon lol. Props to her for remembering Sailor Moon though. Thankfully she doesn't just refer to it as "that anime crap" like some people I know.

My dad hasn't watched anime till he was 5 watching voltron, but when he's in the kitchen cooking and i'm watching toonami, he was able to easily follow fma brotherhood. I also think he has an affinity towards kana hanazawa characters as i always catch him peaking when her characters speak

My mom also chuckles everytime she glances at azumanga

Surprisingly they also picked up on some japanese words just by listening and imitating the language to tease me

My parents thoroughly ignore it. My brother and I watch a lot of anime, and they've commented in the past that it's strange watching shows in another language, and will tell us to turn it down/use a headset when watching them if they're around because the voices sometimes annoy them. That said, although I get the impression they consider anime to be aimed at kids generally, they don't have a problem with us watching it. Basically, they've got no interest in it, but they're nice people and don't think badly of it either.

Mum normally mentions it like "Your funny, bloody...Japanese...anim-ee, or whatever." She's watched Death Note and Haruhi with me and my brother though, she quite likes anime.

My dad only listens to classical music and only likes realism art. He doesn't watch television either cos he thinks it's all propaganda. So his description on anime is.... "Those Alien looking things"

My mom always asks why I'm obsessed with this "weird asian gibberish, with freakishly large eyes and high pitched voices" ... not a very high description :p

That reminds me that my dad and most of the grown-ups around here have watched Yu Yu Hakusho when it was aired here(my mom said that dad and his workmates even talked about it at work sometimes).

Anyways, my parents don't usually care about the anime we watch but if my dad ever saw something perverted in them(like when he saw a scene from School Rumble where Imadori was talking about boobs) he will immediately accuse us of watching hentai.

My mom on the otherhand thinks that animes are pointless and too violent. She wanted us to change the channel once when she saw a battle scene in FMA Brotherhood.

So far, when they wanna comment on us and the anime we watch, they just say "those animes you watch" or "you're watching those Naruto shows again".

Although they do watch some animes(mostly Studio Ghibli movies). They've watched old animes before but I guess they're just not into the newer animes(which explains why they think fanservice=hentai cause animes back then don't give tons of fanservice unlike now).
