Post Reply PS Vita - worth the buy?
Posted 7/27/13 , edited 7/27/13
Anyone in here know the different models of the PS Vita (like is there one that has more memory than the other or something?) for purchase and their prices??? I know I could just google, but I'm feeling lazy. I am REALLY considering getting one though.

I would say at this point no because while there are great games on the system. None of them really stand out enough to really drop $300 plus on it but that is my opinion.

I bought a Vita about 3 months ago solely to play Persona 4 Golden. I had never played a Persona game previously but after reading a bunch of reviews and watching a couple of YouTube videos curiosity got the best of me. Anyways, I love Persona 4 and have currently put in about 60 hours. I love my Vita but would I recommend one? Sadly no, unless you just want to play Persona, since nothing else has grabbed my attention and I haven't seen any games coming out in the future that are worth buying.

Vita isn't really worth it unless you like the library. I have a Vita and love it even when I'm 30 games backlogged on my PS3 and 50+ on steam most of my playtime is on the Vita playing Wipeout, Soul Sacrifice, DJ Max Technika Tune, and Disgaea 3. I also look forward to picking up KZ:M. Ys, and Valhalla Knights 3, Toukiden, and Meruru Plus is the upcoming months.

It really depends on what type of games that you like. As it's been stated in the posts before, PS+ gives you free games, so your library would increase with each month. When the PS4 comes out, you'll be able to cross-platform between the two devices.

I think I've only played one Vita game out of the ones I own so far: Gravity Rush. All the other games I've placed time into were PSP games that I never got a chance of playing due to not owning PSP. Without the Vita though, I wouldn't have discovered Corpse Party :)

I would recommend to wait a little bit before purchasing the Vita. When the PS4 comes out, things will probably start to kick up for it.

There is a white one, a Red one ( I think it's themed after the game SOUL SACRIFICE), and I THINK there is a blue one.
My Vita Has a 32GB Memory stick it's kind of pricey though.

My Vita was $250 O_o brand new. and you can get a memory stick for like 30bucks.

It was definitely worth it for me, but so was the 3DS. I blame Sony for making it seem like there aren't many good games for the Vita when that's just not true. The games that I've played most on it are Persona 4 Golden and Project Diva f. I recently got SMT IV for the 3DS, so I've been playing that.

I was also including a game in that price hence the $300+ price tag. I know mine was a little over $400 but I also bought a 32GB memory unit and a game.

Depends on what you want out of it.

I'm really happy with my PS Vita. I have a wide range of interests, so have plenty to play on it.

Just list my favorite games.

Gravity Rush
Soul Sacrifice
Uncharted: Golden Abyss
Persona 4: Golden
Disgaea 3
Wipeout 2048
Rayman: Origins (found it way more fun playing on Vita than PS3... in fact I still haven't beat the game on PS3, but beat it on Vita without a break in play)
Dragon's Crown (again, find it way more fun to play on PS Vita than my PS3)
Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation

Can't wait for Tearaway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Sorcery Saga, Demon Gaze and Killzone: Mercenary. And if FFX and FFX-2 are retail, those too.

Hopefully SCEA localizes PlayStation Vita Pets and Invizimals, because I like those games. At worst I can just import them from Europe like I did New Little King's Story and Epic Mickey 2 for physical copies. And hopefully we get Freedom Wars in English.

This is for everyone who complains that the price is too high.

http://www.joystiq.com/2013/08/20/vita-price-cut-to-199-in-us-199-in-europe/

Now it is basically the same as a 3DS XL.

EDIT: It is the same.

It's not necessarily the price that's keeping people from owning one, it's just that the handheld lacks any real system sellers at this point and Sony so far hasn't been giving it any attention at all. If there were some brand new and innovative games exclusive to vita I'd get one.

There are plenty of great games for it.

If you have a PS3 and PS+, there's all the more reason to buy one.
Not to mention PS4...

Except those who will find reason to always complain about the pricing of the memory cards. :/ Which while I love my Vita to death, the memory cards could stand to be cheaper. Not a fan of deleting/juggling data around just so I can free up space to make room for a new game or something, so I'd love to purchase another 32GB whenever I can find another decent sale.
