Oh, wow! I just love the art I'm seeing here, and I think it'll be great to get some more background on the characters if we do, especially Asuna!

I have been following this manga. I like how we see more of Asuna's thoughts and actions. Basically, her role in SAO.

Progressive, as the name denotes, is a retelling of the Aincrad arc progressively through all of the floors. Rather than the original single volume Aincrad arc, that skipped a majority of the floors, and the side volumes still barely covered.

The original SAO light novels just began English release from Yen Press, but dunno about their plans for Progressive. The manga version can be found "on the internet" in English, but the TL/typeset quality is quite poor.

I agree, rebooting the anime is not necessary. Since progressive is going through each and every floor, that would require at least 75 episodes. Such a long anime would suffer "Naruto/One Piece/Bleach Syndrome" where the creators of the anime decide to add a bunch of filler episodes to make more money and extend the anime. Also, I fear that going through each floor might make a reboot feel a bit repetitive, though I do have faith in the creator of SAO in making the story of SAOP have much more variety and depth than the original SAO. Still, if a SAOP anime were to ever be release, I would most definitely watch it. IMO it would have the potential to become the most popular anime of its time, the next generation of anime, you know, after One Piece, Hunter X Hunter and Naruto finally end, in the case of the first two might take another like 10 years.

I don't think they need to do an entire floor-by-floor retelling- but maybe a few episodes per 10 floors would be nice. They just need to go into depth about several things. The moonlit black cats for example, it was supposed to be devastating when they bit the dust but they were only around for.. 14 minutes? its hard to get attached to characters that aren't even there for a whole episode. Or like the laughing coffin - are they really just a bunch of really good players who murder for kicks? really? no backstory there? because in the novel I recall it being mentioned there was some sort of guild war involving the laughing coffin. Or what the hell happened to the revival item that kirito gave klein? I mean, that might've actually come in handy toward the end of the story. Or what about the basement floor? In a story where the entire premise is developed around going up, why is there a downstairs floor? and why are there ridiculously OP monsters down there? Not to mention the potential within the characters Liz and Silica that just got completely thrown away. Just so many things left unsaid...

But I agree, if they fix all the character development issues, plot holes, bizarre love triangles, deus ex machina endings, and slow the story down enough to get into depth about whats going on, It could go down as one of the best animes to date.

Also, I find it awesome that they're doing a reboot of a story based in virtual reality. It's just so punny! A-hurr a-hurr a-hurr

Shame they didn't show 'the 'Martial Arts' training, Kirito had on floor 2. Or will they show that later on?

They should not make an anime of SAO Progressive as Reavered said.
They just should focus bringing all Arcs into anime. And not to let things important stuff away that happend in the (sidestory of the) LN.

Edited out last line, mentioning a link to a fan-translation site.

This looks cool and all, but I really want to get my hands on the light novel of SAO, where it tells the original story. The anime skipped a ton of content with the aincrad arc, I believe, so I would like to know what I missed out on and more.

There are some good sites where you can read/download it on PDF.

I can't say, because I might spoil the manga but I can say that:
- Diabel already knew about Kirito being a Beta,
- Wanted his powerfull Anneal Blade Sword +5 (you only could via «Secret Medicine of the Forest» Quest's reward) before they started the Boss Battle,
- Was good friends with Diabel and used him to bribe Kirito via Argo into buying that sword. Kirito payed Argo more so he could know his name, but it was unknown that it was Diabel that was behind it. (He didn't sell his sword)

I think this was about it until the 2nd floor. I won't spoil more

Artwork for this series is definitely better than that of other Sword art Online manga adaptations. Also follows the storyline of the light novel to a much more detail. Its definitely a must read for those who love the anime. Although I must say that it's just a remake of the anime on paper.

It was? I might've missed it or it was just slightly hinted in the manga.

Atleast it's nice to hear more about Asuna's background.

Banks420 i agree with you entirely dude. The alicication arc will definitely top the first season I feel by far. I just finished the 14th novel and was blown away by that storyline. I also feel that the progressive getting animated would be awesome if done correctly. Just started from scratch basically from each floor of aincrad as well as more development with kirito and the main cast including asuna would be cool. Regardless if it goes against the first season of sao too. I think it would be cool if he animated the sao storyline over again with progressive but show things even if it went against what was in the first season.
