Recently, I stumbled across this video. It's a collection of memes involving the George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin case. Fair warning, you may be offended. The humor is very dark. So if you don't digest this kind of thing well, I suggest you do not watch it.

When I first saw it, I wasn't offended, just appalled. The comment section was the worst part. I read on and I knew that they were saying these things for two reason: to offend people, and because they thought it was funny. I read on and realized that I didn't really like any of the people making those jokes, but I recalled laughing at some even *worse* stuff .This dissonance bought me to the realization that I was just as bad as they were. So do I not like myself? Could I really complain? Could I really hold them to a higher standard than I? I figured that that doesn't make a lot of sense.

Again, offensive video.

So on to the topic of the thread, have you ever had any instances of moral hypocrisy? If so, how did you react once realizing that you were a hypocrite? And if you have never felt as if you had an instance like this, how do you stay true to your moral code? Is that difficult?

Thanks.

People being offended is of no significance to anyone other than themselves. i.e. If something offends you, ignore it, because it's absolutely pointless to give a shit.

If people ignored everything that offended them,
what would become of you?

I do a lot of personal attacks, they can't ignore them. Besides, no-one is gonna ignore something just because CarboKill told them to...

...YET.

Screenshotting this for when you betray me
I'll have something to take to the mods for a permaban on your ass.

But slay, Carbo.

Bookmarked. Ha!

On topic:

It's definitely not something people should practice a lot.

I have realised that about myself a long time ago...

It's kind of impossible to not break your own moral code, because a moral code isn't an "objective" thing that exists within our brain and body, it's a learned thing influenced by society.
I'm not in any way excusing my hypocrisy, but my point is there will be times where I will forget myself and do things against my moral code or philosophy.

In conclusion, humans are not book characters or robots, we don't stay one-dimensional, we have multi-faceted personalities and ways of thinking.
We will react to different situations differently, that's what makes us all interesting. We're not animals, we don't all react the same way to the same stimulus.
