I've found that in most cases it is difficult to judge any series by the first couple of episodes since they are mostly character introductions. As such, it is my practice to give it about 3-4 episodes to determine if I will continue watching or not. Funny, but sometimes I enjoy a series regardless of the reviews badmouthing it, and other times I simply can not connect with a series regardless of its shining reviews. When I started watching Shakugan no Shana I almost threw in the towel after the second episode, but then I found, after watching two more episodes, that this was one of my favorites! On the other side of the fence, Baccano, despite all of the positive reviews and hype, didn't appeal to me at all. The latest flush of the anime toilet for me had to be CHaos; Head. That was, in my opinion, a steaming pile of crap! Sorry!

Lol.

Yes I've heard of "Guilty Pleasures" but when I have that kind of feeling about a show - I'd just rather jump to the next one. I don't really care about your opinion on this either because this is just how I do it. We all have our differences you know, and who are you to decide how things should or shouldn't be done.

Pathetic.

This.

Even though I barely watch anime nowadays, this method is the one I used back in the time.

omg sir... how are you.

Code Geass. none of the enemies were interesting, Lelouche was kinda annoying, the only character I cared about was Suzaku. I gave up after 15 episodes.

Kill la Kill, because it felt like Trigger took a cliched shonen anime, sped it up, and added a Gurren Lagann paint job. I should drop Infinite Stratos 2, because it's obvious each episode is five minutes of plot and twenty minutes of fan service and filler, but it's a hard series to put down despite that.

My Mental Choices are Completely Interfering with my School Romantic Comedy. It is really uninteresting. Made it to episode 6 and dropped it.

Beyond the Boundary.

Bad writings, plain and simple. I don't care about any of these characters. In fact, I would go so far as to say I actively dislike most of them. All their so called funny quirks are neither funny or interesting, and sure the animations pretty, but who cares if the world itself is boring?

If your characters suck in your character driven show, and all you have left is an incredibly drab been there, done that, fantasy world, your show sucks.

That is exactly how I feel I am not going to try a genre I know I can't make it through. Even then once a season a try out a show that doesn't seem that I would like it and most of the time I have found it to be one of the best. For the record I have never watched a show and quit half way through or at all, that would mean I would have wasted my time, that I was trying to waste.

Log Horizon...Cos in the end, it's reminding me far too much of SAO in many ways, and SAO really wasn't all that great in my opinion anyway, so....yeah...Log Horizon is now a no-longer-watch for me from today!

Nagi no Asukara. Dropped after first episode. The concept was great; the artwork was exceptional; the male protagonist was a total jackwad. I'm sure the storyline will show some sort of personal growth for all of the characters, him included, but he killed the series for me. I did not enjoy, so I do not watch.

Unbreakable Machine Doll. Plot and worldbuilding were random and incomprehensible. Didn't care about the characters. Too much fanservice.

Zero patience.

I've found that any anime that proves to be worth watching to the end, always thrills me in the very first episode. Evangelion. Revolutionary Girl Utena. Puella Magi Madoka Magica. From the very first episode, I was hooked. Greatness was obvious, mere minutes into the show.

There is only one exception that I can think of, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. That took four episodes before I realized it was something different, and really good.

The opposite is not always true. Occasionally the first episode is brilliant, but the show never gets that good again. Guilty Crown, for example, or Anohana.

Half the time I'll drop a show after the first episode, if there's no thrill, no indication of greatness. The rest I'll mostly drop after two, three, or even four or five episodes, if the show rapidly goes downhill. This season I've axed Coppelion, Galilei Donna, Unbreakable Machine Doll, Golden Time. Tokyo Ravens is getting very choppy, and may be dropped soon. I usually wind up watching only one show by season's end.

This season's show with obvious greatness from the very first moments is Kill la Kill.
