That's a cool goal. I'll be waiting for you to achieve it You could study neuroscience during your undergraduate studies as a minor or something too.

Tell us about your goals. Where did you see yourself at your age, 5 years ago?

I can't remember. I was so different back then that trying to remember is like diving into a fog. -_-

In a fantasy world/alternate reality from your own; what would you be? Where would you go?

I'm not sure... I'll probably be a Funyarinpa.

Where do you think you messed up? What held/is holding you captive in your current reality?

I don't know. I don't think I ever messed up so seriously that it made everything go downhill. Even so, I believe things in the past could always have been better and that the present could still be better. I am rarely contented about what I have done and what I am doing. Also, I am what's holding myself captive in my current reality because if I don't, then I'm only going to delude myself and that will only lead to disappointment and frustration in the future.

Five years ago I was in my sophmore year of college and still making awesome grades studying electrical engineering. I saw myself with a bachelors degree making 60k a year at a power company in Texas. Figured I'd find that special someone and be thinking about getting married. I'd also be doing my own as an inventor and maybe a mission trip to help out the radio nuts at HCJB Global from time to time. Maybe even make a difference in the world by picking up the people that have been trampled on.

In a fantasy world, I'd definitely be a powerful mage and scholar. I'd devote my life to studying the arcane and doing my job to make sure that others don't abuse their power. I'd study magic with the zeal that I study electricity. Defend the weak and save the princess (even let the dragon live, cuase dragons are cool). Was this a serious question? I like my answer regardless.

I feel like one can learn from mistakes and I certainly have. I got depressed from overwork and feeling unfulfilled/unsatisfied with life in college so I took a break. I joined the Air Force to help pay off my school and have funding to finish. I'm 25 and I'm finally getting back to school after a two year break. I certainly made mistakes like letting myself feel down, letting my grades drop, and throwing my old life away. But, what I have gained is so much more. I now have a fulfilling job and I hope to retire from military service one day, even put in for officer once I finish my degree in a couple years. It's taking longer to finish my goals, but I feel satisfied in the life I live. If there was one thing holding me captive, maybe I'm a little lonely. Still haven't found that person to share life with.

I like this thread, by the way. Nice to read other people's posts and see a little light in people's eyes on this community, even the young'ins.

I'm glad this thread took off like it did. There are many thoughtful responses. I realise that this in an infinitely intimate discussion, everyone thus far has been respectful and supportive. It's good to see that.

But seriously guys - no one wanted to be a celebrity chef?

Even in the fantasy world? C'mon. I don't believe that for a second.

I would LOVE to be a celebrity chef. But not more than I would like to be a conductor. No neo-post-apocalyptic-magic-zombie dystopia for me. Lol.
